Hello From Florida!

I'm a single mom to 2 amazing kids, Nevaeh (17) & Joey (14), we've always been a pretty tight knit little family & have become even closer due to some recent life changing events. I've always thought that there should be more to life than working so much & so hard just to buy "things" for my family that we rarely have time to enjoy anything as a family. My grandma used to say "sometimes things need to fall apart so that they can fall into place", well for us it happened, it all fell apart & in our search for a new "normal" we have realized that we will never be fulfilled by society's standards for happiness & success. So we removed ourselves from the rat race, we are focusing on our family rather than material possessions & we're having fun, enjoying life, making memories & taking plenty of pictures! We recently started this new chapter of our lives (May 2022) by purchasing an RV (2004 Keystone Montana 2955RL in amazing condition) & moving into it full time. We live out in the country of Northeast Florida and for now we have it set up on our little piece of private property with a well, septic system and power pole. We haven't traveled with the RV yet (or really much at all) & there are some repairs & remodeling/upgrading to do first but we definitely will be traveling as soon as possible! The plan right now is to keep the property in Florida as our "home base" and travel as much as possible! While we do have experience working on cars & trucks and doing home repairs & remodeling and such we are extremely new to RV ownership & living. To save money, learn and grow together we are doing all of the work ourselves (just the 3 of us) so whether it's routine maintenance, repairs, remodeling, stuff like "what does this switch do?", how to switch between gas & electric, some things that make everyday living easier & more comfortable or general traveling tips we have questions about it all! We're also doing some research for the most reliable & affordable setup possible to carry us on our adventures! (Truck, 5th Wheel Hitch, RV & Truck Accessories, ect.) Any suggestions, tips or advice is more than welcome & if you want to know anything else about our little family just ask! 😃

Welcome, Crystal. You will find the members welcoming and knowledgeable. We have been members starting on 19 years now. The first suggestion would be to put your information in your signature. When you have questions to post, the first question is year and model. Rather than writing 2004 2955RL each time, it will always be there. The second, if possible, will be to attend any rallies you can make. Even though you get your questions answered here, it comes with free help at rallies usually. And, it’s a way to meet lifelong friends. The third suggestion when looking for a truck, if you can afford it, go diesel one ton. On the flats, a gas truck will work, but if you decide to visit the Rockies, you wil” be very unhappy. Also, even though a 3/4 ton “may” handle your 2955, the price difference is so small you should still go one ton. Best of luck with your new lifestyle and hope to meet you at a rally.
