Bike rack/e bikes

Hello, we have a 3121 with a hitch on the back. What kind of bike rack are people using with ebikes? I would like one that does not touch the frame.

Our ebikes were built by the Electric Bike Company and they sell and recommended using the Swagman bike rack. So far the Swagman bike rack has been rock solid.

We have this bike rack:

5000 miles later and no issues. Hauls a Rad Mini Step Thru and a Juiced Ripcurrent.

Like Zack said go Hollywood. HR1700 is rock solid, if you have a Legacy you will need the $90 optional extended tube for you receiver. That will allow bikes to clear your rear cap and ladder. Setup the inside bike for front tire at ladder. Watch video on easy way to load (aka hernia prevention).

I was able to adjust my bike setup so signal lights weren't blocked and I added a license plate holder and wired a 4 wire (used 2 wires) plug to the trailer 4 wire to light the plate (moved from rig to rack).

Edit: we have 2 GreenbikeUSA GB1-Mag ebikes.

We have a 2022 Montana Legacy that has the rear cap. I ordered a receiver extension on Amazon for about $35 (I think it was about a 7 or 8" extension) and it works well with our Kuat NV 2.0 hitch rack. The extension helped so the bike handle bars clear the ladder. We use the Kuat with our car and truck all the time. It is one of the few rated for the heavier e-Bikes.

I looked at Kuat NV2.0 and, at least at that time, they excluded 5th wheels and motorhomes in their vehicle list. Really nice rack though.

The Hollywood rack comes with a threaded, locking pin which you tighten in the receiver and it skim looseness. I considered a receiver extension (felt the $90 was a gouge), but didn't want to add another joint so I paid my $90 and now have the original tube as a big paperweight...

Good input.

All I know is we used the Kuat NV 2.0 a lot with our previous Airstream and have now used it with the Montana (with extension) without issues or problems. Bikes ride well. Our model (3121rl) has a 2" towing hitch rated for 3,000 lbs and I think the hitch weight needs to be under 300 lbs. The Kuat and the e-bikes (with batteries attached) are under 300 lbs.

Probably makes sense to contact Kuat.

Instead of a rack we are going to get a tray and carry our bikes in plastic totes from Lowe's. Our Lectric bikes fold up and fit in totes. Use a second tote to fit over the first one to protect from weather. Also, this way it doesn't look like you are hauling bikes so less possibility of theft.

thanks for the replys. I bought a swagman escapee. The bike that went on first was touching the ladder, so I bought piece of 2"x2"x24" bar and extended the lower bar out 3'. Problem fixed. Our first trip will be this weekend.

Bike Rack

I had a Kuat Transfer V2 which is the only RV rated bike rack Kuat makes. It barely seemed to hold our 2- 52 lb bikes and was a bit of a pain to load. I gave up on it and discovered 1UP USA. I absolutely love this bike track and will hold 2 75 lb bikes and is rated for use on a 5th wheel, travel trailer or drivable. Also rated for off road use. Super easy to load only downside is the price. But it is made in the USA in Wisconsin.

We recently purchased 2 Gazelle e bikes that we are enjoying. Not that I have a lot of experience with bike racks but we went with a Yakima on ramp e-bike hitch bike rack. Part number 8002706. - I’m not sure if they all have a ramp to load the bikes. It made it easy to load the bikes. Anyway, it rides back there really well. We also bought a cover to protect our investment from the weather and curious eyes.
The Hollywood rack is recommended a lot but have been out of stock everywhere I looked. So I started researching other 5th wheel rated racks.

Swagman Racks

Had to install a bumper with enough strength to hold the bikes and the bike rack to hold EBikes. Had Torque-Lift install a bumper with reciever for the hitch, which is the Swagman model specific for EBikes.

Harbor freight has a motorcycle rack made of aluminum that is usually around $150. A lot of times you can find it on sale for around $120 it has a 500 lb weight limit. I have a large E bike 75 lb, it has 26 inch tires. It fits perfectly after I turned the motorcycle rack upside down drilled out a few pop rivets where the tires go and customized it for my bike. You will not find a better solution to hold your e-bike then at your nearest harbor freight. I can send a picture if I could figure out how to do it...
