Rain, Rain go away

Our normal annual rain fall is 43 inches the all time record is 58 inches. We got 62 inches of rain this year.
This sounds good for farmers but it’s not. You only make hay when the sun shines and we only had a very few 7 day periods without rain. By the time the ground dried enough it was raining again. Up next to the Blueridge Parkway a lot of potatoes are grown most are still in the ground, rotten. The farmers couldn’t get in the fields, too muddy. The same for corn. On a positive note it was a great growing season.
