2018 Montana 3731FL maiden voyage
We are about to venture out as newcomers with our new RV next week for a 4..5 day test run.
We picked up our new Montana about a month ago and it has been winterized for coming winter here in the Northeast. We plan on heading south to Fla in December.
My question is do I need to fill any holding tanks prior to arriving at the rv site with full amenities or when I hook up to the water will it all take care of itself?
Any tips would be appreciated.

Welcome to MOC! nothing takes care of itself it would be smart to hook it to water & Ele. close to home to check every thing before you leave in case there is a problem and you are out on the road. put some water in the in the water tank and run the water pump fill the hot water tank run it on gas and Ele. to make sure it works, Run the HVAC, Light the oven & burners, purge all the water lines after you get water in them to check for leaks, Check all the suspension sys bolts & wheels for proper torque, You don't need to fill the tanks full but put some water in all the tanks and check all the dump vales. It's a very good thing to do before a long trip with an new Rig. Have a good trip and have fun with the new Rig! best wishes.

In answer to your question, Very very rare there would be any leakage issues with a new unit. Having said that, would be worthwhile to fill tanks ahead of time to make sure the flush valves operate properly.

I just said to check the water lines. I have a friend that got a new rig last year when they
were doing the PDI they switch the water to tank fill and it blow the water line of the pump the slide clip that hold water lines on the pump weren't on all the way on the water pump.

never a bad idea to try things out close to home before getting in unfamilar territory.

Welcome to the MOC. we have a 2017, 3731FL, We love it. We've had it a couple months, we did experience a water leak under the bathroom sink, the HW fitting to the faucet was loose. Like others have said, check everything while its easy to correct. Enjoy!

Run your furnace for 30 minutes or so and let the rig air out afterward to get rid of the new furnace smell.

Didn't your dealer do a PDI with you and have the system charged to show you how it works? If it came winterized I'm sure they did not. If they winterized it after the PDI fine but they should have showed you everything in the water, electrical and sewer systems during the PDI. I don't think anyone has remembered every fact they told us in the PDI but we all learn and this Forum is a great place for the learning. Good luck with your future trip and with your new unit.

First time buyer and first time PDI and RV was all opened up air running and the guy was a good talker taking advantage of newbies like us.
If I had it to do all over again I would have wanted to be there before they opened and would of taken a lot more time to ask questions.
But no they didn’t go over everything. Our mistake caught up in the moment of excitement pick up day.

just a quick note if you are first time
make sure your water heater has water in it before you turn it on electric or you will fry the element. and there is a switch on the heater itself (outside) to turn the electrical on along with the switch inside, I know because my first time out the heater worked great with gas but not electric, this board came to my rescue on that one.
good luck and have fun

The new Montana water heaters don't have the switch on them anymore it all done from the inside control panel.
