IT’S Here
Well, the storm is here, it’s dropped 15 degrees in 15 minutes and continues to drop. Been preparing for cold weather for a couple of months, I learn a few thing 2 years ago when we had that -12 degrees in FortSmith AR. Supposed to be -10 or so do to the wind chill by the morning. Here we go…

"It" started in Central Indiana about 6:30 pm ish today. It's been drizzling / misting rain all day. Temps in the high 30s / low 40s until about 6:30. Then temps dropped from 42 to 14 in about an hour and a half. That drizzle has turned to ice, wet pavement is now a sheet of ice, and everything on the ground is now white. Current temperature at my house (not wind chill, the true temperature --- 14 degrees "F") and an icy mess now.
Best advise for anyone in Central Indiana .. Stay off the roads. Wait till later to "go." Whatever "it" is, "it" can wait.

Yes. It’s supposed to be 3 degrees here in western Virginia tomorrow night. It’ll be a good time to stay inside. Oh well March is only a little over two months away. See it doesn’t sound too bad.

Hit here in Northeast TX before noon today. Went to the nearest little town to pick up anti gel diesel additive this morning. Was 42 when we left the house and 26 when we got back home from the 12 mile trip. Saw snow flurries this afternoon and predicted to be 8 degrees overnight. Not supposed to get above freezing until Christmas day. Going to get interesting. Everyone hunker down and stay warm and safe.

It’s suppose to really start dropping after 9 pm here CST, 23 right now and they’re saying 6 degrees by 4 am. That’s nasty cold for the south.

In the Wichita area, it was - 5 this morning around 7:30 AM. Didn't get above +4 all day even with the sun coming out this afternoon. Currently back down to zero. We also had insane wind most of the night and most of the day ... some gusts over 35 mph. Not planning on getting out much till after the weekend when it warms back up. I've already seen most episodes of Perry Mason, Gunsmoke, Paladin, CHIP'S, Adam 12, The Rifleman, Tales of Wells Fargo, Rizzoli and Isles, and The Closer but I guess I'll watch them again in case I missed anything.

We left western NY this morning, 30* and partly sunny. The big chill starts tomorrow there. Drove from sunny to cloudy to snow to rain in north Jersey at our daughters for Christmas. Raining steady now and supposed to tomorrow also and temperatures 50+ crashing to 10-12. Monty’s out in her driveway until Monday. Then VA, lows expected to be in the teens, then SC lows in the 20’s. We’ll play it by ear but might just microwave Christmas leftovers and use some jugged water for the bathroom until GA. Then I’ll de-winterize before getting to FL. After the 80” of snow we had last month, we were glad to get out in the nick of time this time around.
Everyone be safe out there.

Our power went out at 11:44 pm here at the S&B. Power company text says it will be restored by 3:30. It is 13* outside. There is a relatively new RV park sbout 2 miles east of me. I feel bad for those folks. I am keeping a fire going in the fireplace.
I blew the water lines out earlier today in the Monty but i have the furnace set to 50* trying to keep the Splendide washer warm. I did not winterize it. Hope the batteries hold up and the furnace keeps it from freezing. Not sure what our hot tub will do in this cold. This is a pisser!
By the way - there is no snow storm or ice here this time…not like in Feb 2020…just clear skies and cold.
Follow up…electricity was out from 11:44 pm to 5:00 am. Apparently the furnace kept the Monty from freezing…so far so good. Took drivers side tank in to get a top off so we are ready for the next few nights.

Made it through the night, it 3 degrees, ice, covered with a little snow feel like is -13. As soon as it’s light out side I’ll check my propane. The high here is suppose to be 16.

77Cruiser - as a born and raised Texas, even I had to chuckle at your "Weather Warning" in your prior post above. Respect for all you Northerners who grin and bare it each year through crazy cold weather.
7* above here this morning with 23* predicted for the high. Might sneak up barely above freezing tomorrow. That will be when we head out to go see the kids and grandkids. Good thing no snow or ice down here because the crazies down here can't drive in bad weather either.

I probably hate the heat & humidity as much as you guys hate the cold & snow. I hate it when it's 80 deg or more.

Central Indiana update.
4:30 am (Dec 23)... "negative" -6 degrees F (Lapel / Anderson / Pendleton, Indiana)
6:00 am (Dec 23) ... "negative" - 8 degrees F
7:30 am (Dec 23) ... "negative" - 9 degrees F
Light snow now, small 6 inch drifts, some grass still showing though lightly covered with snow and ice.
Wind has steadily been blowing around 20-25 mph all night long.
Just checked a weather web site, the wind chill is -36 F ... yes ... negative!

Here in Laredo TX it was 71 yesterday and now 24 at 8am today. Wind out of the north and a high of 39 today. So far everything is working well, filled water tank yesterday, drained the hose and brought it inside, filled both propane tanks and still have my spare tank filled. Stocked up on groceries and ready for the cold weather now.

Well it's-3⁰F here this morning.
Rig is winterized. MPPT is off
Converter is off.
Lithium batteries temperature is 18⁰F.
The wind was wicked last night.
I'll need to turn on the battery heaters for a while to warm them up before I turn the converter back on.

It’s 6 degrees here and falling. My mini split is pumping out 120 degree air so we warm and comfortable.

They are absolutely amazing. We fluctuated from -2 to +2 all day yesterday. I checked our mini split several times and it was never blowing air below 90. It was usually mid and upper 90's. Blows my mind how this is possible with no heat strips while only pulling 6 to 7 amps at 120 Volt.
Our 4 ton conventional heat pump for the main house also did well. It was blowing low 80's at the farthest floor register. With thermostat set at 68 the heat strips did kick in every couple hours. Temps at the same register then went to 125+ but the electric meter nearly fell off the side of the house.
If I were fulltime traveling or just living in a camper for what ever reason, I would make the investment in a mini split. Without a doubt.

The unit in the kitchen was blowing 130 degree air. If you think about it that amazing. It’s taking enough heat out of 10 degrees air to blow 130 degree air. And that’s with the fan on high. You can feel the air movement 25 feet.
