Military Movers!

We recently moved into our 3950BR full time. My family is stationed in Virginia and recently we received orders to Utah. We sold our house in VA and didn't want to be rushed on either end, so we traded in our bumper pull 30' Kodiak for a 40' 5er! We plan on spending the next six months full time.

We researched extensively and landed on the Montana 3950BR. It has all the niceties we wanted having camped quite a lot over the last five years.

We have a 4 y.o. and a 8 m.o. along with a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. We have been in our Montana two months and we love it so far. My wife will be working from home so the bonus room (hence the BR in the model) is great for an office. It really is a bonus because 1. when the kids are home it is a great place for them to watch TV while we have the family room to ourselves and 2. when my brother visited it made a great guest bedroom. My 4 y.o. just loves his loft (bear cave as he calls it).

I only have two things I need to figure out:
1. The thermostats are so touchy. They were the same in our Kodiak Ultimate (Dometic). Sometimes the temp starts adjusting on its own and goes all the way up or down when you want to only make a small adjustment. I've also learned to set the temperature in Celsius because it is easier than trying to get it to stay on Fahrenheit....

2. Our Kodiak had a way inside to loop the satellite feed into the cable outlets. All the TVs were on the same channel, but all the TVs could get the satellite coming out of one receiver. Haven't cracked the code on how to do that in the Montana yet.

FYSA, my King satellite has two satellite feed "outs" and the Montana has two satellite "ins" but inside it also has four TVs, each with a satellite plug next to it, but we only want to use one receiver, it doesn't bother us that they will all run off one box. In my Kodiak, behind the main TV there was a loop with an "out" and an "in" right above it in the same outlet (and an additional out above that for the TV). I would connect the satellite "out" to the receiver then run it through the receiver back into the 'in" for the camper and then connect the out above it to the TV. Then all the cable connections were running the satellite Feed from the receiver. It seems the only way to do the same thing in my Montana is to run a cable from the receiver out a window and around to the camp cable "in"...no Bueno.

We have found that living full time we have everything we need, and nothing that we don't. If I wasn't leery of Utah winters we would definitely consider taking our six month experiment out a little further!

If anyone can help me with either above issue I would greatly appreciate it!

Thank you for your service, my wife and I are ex Navy and Air Force. Yes the Dometic thermostat is touchy , you have to bump it up or down a degree at a time or it will run away. If you need to reset it hold the up and down temp simultaneously and it will reset, ours is about 5 degrees off. I have found if I set the heat temp at 65 degrees when using the ac it works more accurately. Welcome to the forum.

Hill AFB has a nice FAMCAMP not far from Ogden. Stayed there a few years ago in the winter months. Our Montana was very comfortable...as long as you feed the propane!
