Your Frist Trip

We just got back from the ocean had a great time. We really enjoyed
the montana. Found a few problems but nothing to bad. We had to use onboard water the first day, does any one have a suggestion on a water pump that will not wake the dead and put out even pressure.
Thanks
Mel

Melnjoy..... I seem to remember some previous discussions here about noisy water pumps and how to fix them. It had something to do with vibrations.....? Anyways, if you do a search of previous discussions you come up with some great information.

Here's a link to one of the variable speed pumps that are supposed to be very quiet.

Another idea is to put an accumulator tank in the line that will absorb the pump noise and also reduce cycling.

Hope this helps. Happy trails!!

Yes they can be quite loud but so is everyone elses. We just don't flush the toilet in the middle of the night or try to camp where there is water.

We tried insulating the pipes around the pump with the rubber pipe insulation, but it didn't reduce the sound at all! Instead, we try to remember to turn of the punmp at night so we don't wake the dead!

I think the new quiet pumps available at CW shoud be the ticket, but they are expensive.

skyguy,

no kidding??? did not help??? YIKES.

Al did ours that way, and it helped so much, almost like day and night difference. that said, that baby is still loud.

They say an accumlator will help, that is our next step.

melnjoy, do a search here on that top, using our search engine, as was suggested by D and M on the Road, I seem to remember something about some of the pumps being too strong for the Montana??? But, you know ole ladies memories. something to consider tho!

the insulation helped a lot in ours, too, but it's still too loud to us. But we don't use it enough to justify a high-dollar whisper king pump or whatever brand that is. but if we were to use it a lot we'd break down and get the quiet pump.

i've also heard mounting on a hard rubber block can help.
