TST TPMS sensor & valve cores

Just finished winterizing the RV. Part of that process is removing the TST TPMS sensors. It seems that almost every year, when I remove the sensors, one of the valve cores will stick in the open position. Sometimes taking it out and putting it back solves the problem; other times, like today, I have to install a new valve core.

Has anyone else seen this problem? My theory is that the valve cores are not designed to by held open constantly and won't pop back into the closed position.

I have the TST flow through sensors which I remove when the RV is in storage. I have never had that problem. Perhaps there is a lubricant, like that used for air tools that might help?

I would be very cautious using any lubricants. Anything petroleum based can very detrimental to most rubber products. You could safely try a spray silicone base product if you feel the need for lubrication.

Otherwise I keep a small pack of valve stem inserts handy.

In about 12 years of using the TST on ours and removing the sensors every fall for winter storage, I never had that problem. I get just a very short puff of air and that's it.

Interesting. I have had it happen 4-5 times in the last few years. My sensors come off/on twice a year. Maybe I have a bad sensor that is doing something weird to the valve core? I'll have to pay attention to see if it always the same one.
