Valve stems

My TPMS detected a leak on a tire on my 2010 model 3150 with Bridgestone Duravis R500HD tires. After getting off road found leak was from around the valve stem. I have read that with the monitoring system I should have all metal valve stems installed to preclude this type of problem. My problem is I took tire to large tire repair facility and they said they couldn't install metal valve stems as there wasn't room enough to get locking nut on. Any suggestions from anyone? Rims are factory installed alloy rims which came on the rig when new.
