Fishing COAX in ceiling advice on HOW TO

Hello All,

I am in need of assistance on how best to go about fishing a piece of COAX thru the ceiling.

2017 3661RL
Currently equipped with Winegard Carryout G2 roof-mounted and the living room TV is operational ran all-new dedicated cable to avoid headaches.

Would like to add a receiver to the bedroom TV.

Purchased G2 PLUS so that two TVs can be supported. The plan is to replace the old G2 on the roof with G2 PLUS using the existing cabling.

Run a new/additional piece of COAX from the new G2 PLUS to the bedroom via the existing COAX entry point in the roof and then enter space between the roof and ceiling for a final pull to the TV in the bedroom. Eventually ending up cleanly where the existing COAX box is located, which is behind the crown molding of the picture frame/shadow box TV mounting area.

I would really like to know if anyone has had any success doing this or came up with an alternative to it, other than running the cable thru a window.

Really appreciate the assist!

Thank you Gordo

Personally, I wouldn't go through the ceiling. A repair shop once wanted to trace a coax problem up there by removing ceiling panels. I didn't allow that and took the trailer home. The way to route coax for me was through the basement.

Thank you for the reply. I looked at doing just that. Did you fish up thru the dresser?

Here is a video of the Montana framing construction. Roof at about the 2 1/2 minute mark. There are openings thru the roof frame members. But that area is also stuffed with insulation and fishing anything thru there will be a definite challenge.

Definitely from the basement. I would go into the closet with the W/D water lines, then to the TV most floorplans it would then be a short run along the ceiling to the TV.
Cover with a wire moulding and done!

We've had a Traveler installed on all three of our Montana's and each time the professionals have gone across the roof and then thru it using lap sealant to hold the coax down and seal the hole. 11 years of full timing and over 120,000 miles of rough roads and never a leak. Just another option for you. Before then, when we had G2+'s I mounted them on the ladder and ran the coax the same way.

Same my traveler install was along the roof & dropped down to the TV compartment in bedroom. Sealed as done with any venting etc.

Hi, I dont know if I was lucky but, I connected the new cable to the old one and put a light wtap of electrical tape on it and fished it thru. Dont know if this will work for you, just a suggestion. Good luck and Happy Trails.
