Furnace DOA after running out of propane

Hello folks. Could someone please tell me how to restart my furnace? 1 propane tank ran dry and the furnace shut off, I have opened the valve for the second tank but the furnace is still not operating. Thanks

I pulled the fuse (it was an auto reset type) and when I put it back in immediately I had furnace again. Oddly though the red led did not light until I pulled the fuse.

Edit to say that I have had to pull the fuse about every 90 minutes. Any thoughts?

Glad it worked out. Usually, when you run out of propane you get air in he line. The simplest way to resolve that is to start a burner on your stove until you get good flame. That will bleed the line. I’ve never had to pull the fuse.

The black 15A self resetting fuse has been known to be unreliable. Try swapping it with one of the blue ones.
Also don’t forget your propane auto switching valve. Link to instructions.

Also, when you put in a new tank open the valve really sloooowwwwly. There is an internal safety shut off valve. It you open the tap too fast it thinks there is a leak and triggers the internal shut off valve.

Solution

Solution

I watched a couple of videos on the workings of a furnace and took that knowledge outside. Started and ended with the sail switch. This switch confirms air flow before opening propane solenoid and ignition.

The contacts were oxidized so I cleaned them. 5 minutes in and out.

Sail switches are a constant source of issues here on the forum and they can also stick in the open position which keeps the furnace from coming on again after it shuts down. You can guess how I know that.

lol, I bet I do! I learned online to look there first, I was surprised that it was the contacts because everything else looked so clean.
