I was on the parkway today. All the leaves are gone but that’s not bad. You can see things you can’t see with all the leaves on the trees.

We enjoyed driving the BRP very much and 99% of the road has a 45mph speed limit. We dry camped Laurel Springs, NC the first night and in a Linville Falls, NC campground the second. At a park service campground near Spruce Pine, NC we dry camped again. Made it to Bent Creek, NC and after 221 miles we left the BRP and enjoyed the trip a bunch. Traffic was light, saw many deer, and various other small game. Have no regrets and only left because weather was starting to make me nervous pulling a FW in the mountains with many steep grades. Decided discretion was the better part of valor. Most camp grounds were closed as were many tourist type business. Night time temps got to 36-38 on our last night. Presently enjoying ourselves in Long Beach, MS with 70's the daytime norms. Did manage to hit a tree limb in an AL campground and destroy my refrigerator vent cover.

We stayed at Linville Falls last year. It’s a really nice little CG.
Thanks for the update.

Yes it is, enjoyed the seclusion and first time I ever stayed in a campground that was built on many hills and winding roads. Was fun pulling a 5th wheel in there but once parked we enjoyed ourselves on a walk thru the place.

I too want to thank for the update. So often after queries are answered and suggestions are give, we don't see the outcome. It is a courtesy to all when you tell us how it turned out.

We spent a week here last fall. Not on the BRP but close and beautiful, very quiet, and cheap.

We thought the same thing. Beautiful country and quiet too. Love your pics, except your trees had leaves on them. LOL

If you are in the area again check out Grayson Highland State park. We stayed there a month or so ago. It’s very pretty and at 4200 feet it’s cool.

I did the entire BRP and Skyline Drive over 3 days last May on my motorcycle. It was fantastic! During the entire ride we saw only a few RVs, mostly travel trailers, and only a couple FWs. No large FWs. Some of the tunnels towards the south end of the BRP are very tight for a large FW. My MHC is 13’6” and I remember thinking that I wouldn’t bring it through there in the future. We did see many Airstreams. It must have been Airstream month because they were everywhere.

We drove the parkway coming back from vacation in FL going to Wisconsin. we started the trip in shorts and T shirts. 4 hours later we had traveled 40 miles and experienced almost every weather condition known to man, rain, sleet, hail, snow, fog and thunder snow. Finally, we decided it was best to get off the mountain and go into Knoxville. We didnt realize it, but they had terrible storms that day and the motel we stayed in had its sign blown down onto the road. Needless to say we stayed the night right there! It was very beautiful, i kept saying "WOW" and my wife kept saying "watch the road!" I would do it again, but not towing my RV.

I’m on the parkway frequently during the summer. During the week there are more motorcycles than cars and I’m on mine. It’s my favorite close place to vacation, beautiful scenery and never crowded. It’s different every season. Nice primitive campgrounds, friendly people perfect.
Glad you enjoyed it.
