Ford Lug Nuts

Since we have a thread on trailer lug nuts.
Some may not know Ford and now Ram has a real problem with expanding lug nuts. I ask my friend at Goodyear how often this happened and he looked at me like I was nuts he said “all the time”.
They are two piece lug nuts, you torque them down they expand and you cannot get the wrench back on to get them off. If this happens take a screw driver and hammer cut the outside chrome cover off. Then the wrench will fit so you can get them off.

If it’s a camper problem I’ve never heard of it.
I don’t think you will have all 8 nuts on a wheel that is a problem maybe 1 or 2, or it could be made. My friend said it was a $200 problem.

they are called 'swollen' lugnuts. I have heard that some tire places actually have a special lug wrench to get these lug nuts off.

It wouldn't be such a problem if knuckle draggers didn't use impact wrenches when they r&r wheels.

My 2012 F350 SRW must have been circumcised because my lug nuts don't have a skin on them like pictured in the article and they are all covered by the wheels center cap. I must be missing something here. All my wheels have been removed SEVERAL times with an impact wrench since I have owned the truck.
