Side slam door latch loose

I have one side the the screws that hold the bar like bracket to the body that the bracket/handle hooks into are stripped. This is the part on the bottom of the opening, not the actual latch itself. The screw holes are stripped and not much in that area to add some support.
Anyone have this problem and a solution?

Had the same issue

We had to move it over 1/4 and make new holes. Now it works great!

Fill stripped hole with wooden toothpicks and glue; once glue dries, screw will hold tight again.

If you try the toothpick fix and it doesn't work try doing the same thing some people have done for the air strut bracket coming out. They mount a reinforcement plate then screw the bracket to it.

Darles, Wrong are of problem. It is the actual short bar that the latch attaches to when closed. Held in place with 2 screws. Already tried larger screws which worked for a year or 2. Now nothing else I can think of.
