Protective Coating

Hello all. My wife and I are looking forward to picking up our new 331RL in April. We have been asked by the dealer if we would like to have “Final Coat” applied to our rig. It’s a ceramic, paint protector that is guaranteed for five years against water spotting, bird droppings, fading and oxidizing, UV protection, etc, etc. We’re in Niagara Falls, Ontario and the cost is $1400. Currently we’re in Florida and I just buffed and waxed my 2015 Cougar. Looks great but a lot of work. Just wondering if a protectant is worth it as usually a rig doesn’t show signs of wear till after five years. Thoughts?

I can’t imagine that any ceramic coating done by an RV dealer on a 5th wheel was done with a product that is worth more than two cents. Just the coating to do one car is about $100 and up. That doesn’t include getting the paint prepped which involves a meticulous wash followed by clay baring then polishing then an alcohol wipe before applying the ceramic coating. It would be a hard no from me!

They want to sell you an expensive wax job. I fell for it once couldn't hardly wash the bugs of.

I don’t know anything about what they would use. I have a ceramic coating on my 2018 F150 truck. It’s been on for over 3 years and is still like new. It hasn’t worn off anywhere I have noticed. It’s warranted for 9 years. You haft to take care of it. Car wash is in and dish detergent is out. Will it last 9 years? I’ll not find out as I have a new F150 ordered.
Will it last 5 years on the graphics or the fiberglass? I could see the either one going bad and taking the ceramic coating with it.

It's not ceramic. It's a product that Keystone recommends to protect the finish. I had it done on both my new Keystone rigs. No complaints and I live in Nor Cal. Lots of sun. Can you get it done cheaper? Probably if you can find someone.

I’m with foldback. It’s NOT ceramic coating. I did it and my unit looks really nice after a basic wash. So far no regrets.
