co 2 sensor alarm

I have a 2022 376fl 400 solar package. My co 2 sensor alarm. Goes off at random times. I bought the Camper at end of May. The sensor or battery can't be bad can it? Any of you guys know what it might be? Says battery needs replacing by 2027

Mine did that on my last trailer but it was hard wired. I had to cut the wire in the middle of the night. Turns out it was too close to the dog bed and well....dog farts


But I didn't know Keystone was using battery CO2 sensors. The easiest fix is to replace it. $20 at Home Depot. If it continues start searching for the source. Where exactly is it locate? CO2 is no joke.


I just did the 360 on your trailer and I don't even see the sensor. It's typically floor level in the kitchen.

My floor level sensor is for propane, not CO2. Also, I searched and the article said a sensor should be 5 feet above the floor (my guess is that is where our nose is!!).

I think the OP is referring to a Carbon Monoxide (CO) detector and not a Carbon Dioxide (CO2) detector. The CO detector is usually battery powered and mounted on the wall in the upper level bedroom or front living room. Could it be a flaky 9V battery problem?

In that case, you have a Propane Detector, not a CO (or CO2) one. They are 12V powered from the coach battery and have a 5 year (or so) lifespan. They have a specific alert sequence when then they reach End Of Life (EOL). An intermittent alert is more likely due to detecting propane, hairspray, farts, or other triggering smell.

Our CO censor is plug in with a 9 volt battery. It has a digital read out so I know exactly how high the CO is. We keep it in the bedroom just over the generator and by window. Never had a problem but you can’t be too safe or you might not wake up.

Propane detectors are always placed near the floor because propane is heavier than air. CO detectors should be placed up higher because CO is slightly lighter than air. I'm not sure why they make combination CO/propane detectors, but I'm sure money is the reason.

Ours also failed in first year with same symptom. Dealer processed it as a warranty and I installed the new one.

They do make a combo detector, mine is a combo and is mounted about 12” off the floor in the main area.

It is not a CO2 sensor, it is a CO sensor referred to as a Carbon Monoxide detector picking up gas in there unit like propane,
The monitor is hardwired to the battery and will drain it even when used.
I have a battery disconnect that cuts battery power to unit, so no drain.
Get rid of your detector and buy a gas detector from Home Depot that has a 10 year battery installed.

Not all rigs have hardwired CO detectors or even hardwired smoke detectors. The only detector in our rig that is hardwired is the propane detector. Our CO and smoke detectors are both battery powered, in fact the last smoke detector I installed has a 10 year battery in it, and the last CO detector has I think a 7 year battery in it. When the failure alarm goes off, you just replace the units with new ones. Also, CO and propane are totally different gases, and a CO detector should only be replaced with another CO detector.

What CO monitor do you have? Mine is a Safe-T-Alert 45-741 CO/Propane alarm. I would download the owners manual and see what they they say about troubleshooting. Possible alarm causes discussed in the links below and include monitor malfunction, end of life, dust/dirt over cover, assuming you do not have a CO due to unburned gas.

Trailer monitor I had was a 5 year hardwired with a green lite under the oven door to pick up any unburnt propane gas as mentioned by Rohrmann earlier.
The trailer monitor will drain the battery.
If it starts to beep, it is time to replace it.
