how are covid reservation decisions made? - Montana Owners Club

If a campground is limited to 50% capacity. How are the decisions made as to who gets to keep their reservation vs who gets bumped. Do they look at history and say person x has stayed with us more frequent, Or do they CG owners say here is a new person and they keep their reservation vs the seasoned camper? Minus any difficulties in the past for rowdiness or past issues?
Any Insight. If it were me. site #1 is seasonal so therefore sites 3,5 and the rest of the Odd numbered sites would keep reservations. It is the only fair way to justify your decision. Or do they call the regulars and say we will honor your reservation but you are now moved to site odd numbered.

What do you think. I know we are approaching full occupancy in areas. But not all. So I just wanted to ask your opinion.

Coming up from Florida at the end of May, I didn't see any of our four overnites that were limiting any of their sites. Some offices were observing Covid Social Distancing other not.
I just finished up making our travel plans back South from Western NY via Arkansas, no problem making reservations.

I think you're going to find that decisions are going to be made on an individual campground basis and if they have long term renters like out here in the oil field they're going to get priority. That said, your going to find everything from full open to what we have here in the COOP park I'm, which is totally closed to non-owners.

I have to wonder, in the cities, in large apartment buildings, they share the same recycled air, much like an airplane. Do the cities require they empty 50% of the building?
How about in the suburbs, do they kick out every other home owner?
So why in Campgrounds do they require 50% occupancy?

I do not believe 50% is universal. State and/or campground specific.

I can see limiting the number of people in the offices/stores. Or in pools or activity centers. But I can't see any reason to limit the number of RVs in an RV park. Even in the tightest ones you are still typically well distanced from any neighbors. Are RV parks really limiting the number of rigs?

We just made the trip from North Carolina to Oregon and did not have a problem with any campgrounds we stayed at. Most were full at night.

I agree 100%, can't understand why they were not allowing 100% occupancy. Somebody in Gov't came up with that silly theory.

Of the four overnite stops we did last month, we had neighbors on each side of us at every stop, so no limiting there.
But on a similar note, our usual stop in Virginia wasn't taking any reservation and didn't know when they would be able, but just up the road a ways still in Virginia where we then stopped, the campground was almost totally full. So go figure.

It’s going be tough to limit occupancy. More people are buying RVs as they realize it is a safer way to travel. This means more demand for campsites. We have reservations at three campgrounds in August for a little trip we are going to take. I don’t think there will be any restrictions on occupancy. When our provincial government gave the okay for campgrounds to open, occupancy Limits were not mentioned.

We traveled from California high desert to Ohio, a few places we called said the counties were the ones putting on strict limitations. Even if the state was open, some county officials are seeing how far they can push their new found power. Our travel days varied from 5 to 7 hours between places we could set up in advance. One place in southern Ohio would not do online reservation, but took name and number, told us to arrive between 5 and 9pm, paid cash, all sites filled up. Was told if the county found out they would get 5K fine and closed them down indefinitely. Almost dreading our fall trip back to the southwest for the winter. No place safer or more social distanced than an RV.

I really don't mean to be insensitive here but this is a terrible situation.

Florida has a sick level of intelligence regarding the virus. Campgrounds have a responsibility to follow the guidelines.

If you are not satisfied their decisions don't return. Please don't make their efforts any more difficult by whining. If I was making the decisions I would determine what sites are available and ask those registered in the closed sites to re--register. Sometimes it is very difficult to treat everyone perfectly. If you were moved to my spot because your spot is now closed I would be just as unhappy as you will be if you are cancelled because your site is now closed. There is NO plan that will make everyone happy. Your campground does not want to disappoint you. Make necessary adjustments, don't whine.

When we came home from GA in May, one CG we usually stop at in VA could not be reached by phone or email. Turns out the office was closed. At that time VA only allowed reservations for no less then 14 days. The CG's web site was still up and accepted a one night reservation and payment. When we arrived there was no one at the office and envelopes for payment in a box outside the door. We had already paid online so just moved to a site for the night. Don't ask, don't tell I guess. The CG was about 1/3 full, mostly seasonal set ups.
