Winterizing while unit is plugged in??

Hey all, question about the need to winterize:

When our unit is parked in “storage” which is really in my shop, plugged in, does it really need to be fully winterized? We have the thermostat set to 55 so the electric heat kicks in then. Along with the electric fireplace. It’s got the heated tanks for all grey black and fresh as well and and a heated underbelly in the basement where the pipes run. It’s kinda as if we are camping in it, but not really. We live in middle Alabama, it gets below freezing occasionally, but nothing crazy. Curious to know how others do this that have the luxury of being able to keep it plugged in while not in use.

Thanks!

Jason,

With your conditions you should not need to winterize, particularly if your shop is heated.

If I were you I wouldn’t winterize. It would haft to get below freezing for several days to cause a problem. Just because a pipe freezes doesn’t mean it will burst. I’ve got up in the morning with all the pipes in the camper frozen with no damage.
