I really don’t see trying to eliminate air pollution as nonsense. And I am far from a tree hugger.

Typical California city exhaust smog and one of many Texas refineries putting out pollutants. And not limited to those locations. I live 30 miles north of Dallas and we frequently get air quality alerts.

Calm down folks. Let's see if we can discuss electric options without getting political. We would rather not close the thread.

Just like any kind of progress there will be a lot of tensions because of change, especially in the auto industry. When the auto industry was forced to install smog pumps/Air injection and EGR systems it was all doom and gloom, when lead was removed from gas it was all doom and gloom. Lol the engines got better, forced all manufacturers to do better from fuels to lubricants etc, etc.

It electric the save all answer ? I bet it’s somewhere in the middle. It still take some king of energy to supply electricity, there still will be some kind of pollution as long as energy is being spent.

Has long as Humans are on this earth there will be some kind of pollution so pick your poison.

Funny thing is 90% of EV are made from fossil fuels. Then consider the environmental impact of battery disposal.

And the Enviromental impact of mining the lithium, they are test drilling in salt and sea area of California for lithium as we speak.

The lithium is in China for sure. At my age it want bother me, I will not ever consider buying a EV of any type. Thats my choice. Imagine a farmer who runs his diesel equipment 24 hours, per day, even if there was a battery power Tractor, farmer doesn't have time to shut down to recharge. You want a EV, fine. I don't.

I'm in Florida for 6 months in the winter, EV will not do the job for me! May have to sell out again and stay in Tennessee, and burn wood during the winter.

Happy trails.

I am sure they said a lot of the same things about the internal combustion engine 125 year ago. The world is changing and changing faster every day. As we get older we can either keep up or get run over.

I live just off of I81 in Virginia. I see Teslas up here all the time from Florida. I think though until a year ago that was a trip you couldn’t make in a EV.
We have lots of lithium. The Salton Sea is one place.

Oh and since your neighbors are like minded, the neighborhood just went dark.

I'm betting Fiat is playing the "woke" political game with their pronouncement.

Now, a commercial 42x66 inch solar panel on a bright and sunny mid day might produce 500 watts of power. To produce one megawatt of power you would need 2000 panels covering an area of a bit less then an acre. In comparison, a jet derivative (LM2500 or similar ) would almost fit in my 24x24 foot garage and produce up to 37 megawatts on natural gas.

I don't see the economics in solar or wind power when you factor in the wasye of usually otherwise good land.

Yep, I'm concerned with the environment but not at the cost the tree huggers embrace as to me it's false economy.

Do your own homework but be open minded.

Sorry for the soapbox but there are too many folks hopping on that bandwagon without real thinking.....
First: I bought a Tesla Model Y and love it. Have 100AMP service and also have a Tesla wall charger that charges off peak at 32AMPS 240Volt.
Second : its not Fiat any more. Has been Stelantis for some time.

Batteries are being recycled at 96% efficiency today as we speak right here in Nevada.

If she followed you to camp at only 100 miles in a Tesla she would have over 200 miles left in the battery. If you had hookups she could recharge off the pedestal 50AMP plug or 30AMP or 120V.

That’s pending driving habits, weather and where you live. My Nefew get 240 mile out of his 18 model 3 safely before charging. That was coming from Phoenix to Yuma AZ. Not to many stations to charge along that route.

If all I did was point A to Point B commute to work and home I would consider an EV, not for the reasons of trying to be a green energy vehicle ( because there not ) but because they have a lower maintenance such as lubricants, even though an EV does have lubricants.

But I don’t so that’s out the window lol.

Your nephew probably has a heavy right foot and makes good use of the wide open spaces. It's hard not to drive "spiritedly" in a Tesla.

There are hundreds of charging points on your Phoenix to Yuma route.

If you happen to have a heavy foot a Tesla Plaid if the car for you, 9.4 at a 151 MPH in the quarter mile. You can spend over a million a lot over a million and not beat that.

What does this even mean? 96% of batteries are recycled? Each battery is recycled and is 96% as good as new?

And about Lynwoods comment about having plenty of lithium - I just checked and we are not in the top 7 producers. AND the 7th country only produces 3 percent as much as the number one country - Austrailia.

We better do something!!!

Regardless of what peoples beliefs are as to why there is no question sh*t is getting real with the climate.

After living in Florida for 21 years the 2016 and 2017 hurricane seasons were the final straw that drove us out and into an RV full time.

Until we can feel good about one single spot we will keep "roaming".
