Auto level

My hydraulic jacks have been popping here at camp. I thought maybe they might be out of level. I went outside and hit the arrow level button. It started the levelling process but then in the middle of it, it started making a buzzing sound. I then get a message that says Please wait, auto grounding jacks. At this point I don’t know what to do so I shut off the electronic leveling. Can someone help me?

Jack's popping are a common problem due to weather changes. Lippert has a document that outlines the issue and what to do. You can even call them and they will talk you through it. You don't have to use auto leveling, which I think is a pain in the butt. You can manual level just by turning power on the level panel, hit the up arrow, then it enter. The panel will say that you are now in manual mode and you can raise or lower the front Jack's, or do other Jack's. But as I said first, this is a known issue. Following the advice of lippert or this panel of users to pull out some of the fluid and replace it with the fork oil per lippert AND cycle the hydraulics to mix the fluid in the lines will greatly reduce the popping situation. Good luck.

Thank you for the reply about the popping sound. I am somewhat familiar with this issue. Right now I'm more concerned with not being able to auto level. Is there some way to reset the system?

Could a weak battery cause the creaking and grinding noise?

The issue with the "Buzzing sound" you are hearing is either Low voltage to the system and/or an old OEM 50 amp resettable breaker being still installed on the cable that powers the dual polarity solenoid.. noise is the dual polarity solenoid....

My corrective actions would be:
1. Status of the battery
2. Verify Converter output on shore power 13.4 to 13.8 volts DC
3. Remove the battery cable connections and clean and reinstall
4. Also remove the battery cable to frame ground end and clean the frame to bare shiny metal and reinstall
5. Replace the 50 amp resettable breaker to dual polarity solenoid with an 80 amp ( if you have not already done so previously)

This should take care of your issues

I already have an 80 amp breaker. Checked the battery and indeed, it needs to be replaced. I ordered a Weize 12V 100 amp Deep Cycle AGM SLA VGRA battery from Amazon. It gets good reviews and should suit our needs. We don't do a lot of boondocking.

A new battery solved the problem. As for the popping, I’m going to siphon off a quart of my hydraulic fluid and add the same amount of anti-stiction fluid and hopefully that will help.

Great to hear that your issue was battery related. I had used the cat fluid in the past, but it has been extremely hard to find due to supply chain issues and even cat said that they can't get stock. I just used the maxima fork oil to get success, and that can be gotten easily enough. John

This is what LCI shows on the technical bulletin. I bought the fork oil becaues a motorcycle shop was 3 miles away...CAT dealer was 20 miles away.

The Maxima Fork Oil is available on Amazon for $12.68. Price has been dropping on it.

So does that mean they are not recommending Dextron/Mercon Automatic Transmission Fluid anymore? When did this service bulletin come out?

There is a date in the lower left corner of the screen shot i took “7-16-2013”, and i think i have read previous threads here that agree with that time frame. Also i just noticed this screen shot came from Heartland RVs owners manual, but the system is the same on our Montanas.

Concerning transmission fluid vs hydraulic fluid question...i added fork oil to my reservoir in 2019 when the unit was about 1 yr old. I called lippert to inquire what OEM fluid was used in my unit and the tech told me that transmission fluid had been used for several years (actually i cant remember what year he said). I think i have seen several threads here debating the OEM fluid...the tranny fluid is reddish color and the hydraulic fluid is yellowish color. Mine was reddish.
