Quest -QR3000 (DVD/CD/FM/AM Player)

Since we picked up our unit last August, other than playing a few DVDs and CDs, we have virtually ignored this appliance. One reason was because the FM/AM feature never really worked well and we very seldom use it. This week we are camped at a site with limited facilities so I thought I'd 'fix' it. Got in the truck and immediately picked up several good stations on both FM and AM. Pulled the TV and the QR 3000 out...checked everything. Tried the same stations I got in the truck. It is virtually dead...hums a bit on AM, with a voice breaking through once in a while...FM hums only. Tried moving and lengthening the antennas...even out the window. No help. Any suggestions...other than tossing it and getting a good one?

I thought it worked through the Winegard antenna, but I could be wrong, I do know that to fine tune stations you have to use the lower portion of the remote control.

Mine is also junk. I plan to toss it in the trash. Anyone got suggestions on a decent, inexpensive replacement????

Well, funny you should mention this...my unit was exactly like yours. Pulled the stereo out, drilled a hole outside and mounted an antenna from Autoparts store. Works like the car stereo now...oh, btw...as a boondocker I also tapped the the light circuit in the slide and mounted a DC socket and a bracket to hold a small 140w Inverter...now I can plug into it so it works when "roughing" it!

Immediately sold ours at the Resorts "garage" sale and replaced it with the Consumer's Best Buy Samsung system. YMMV.

Ours does seem to work better when we have the antenna up and booster on (due to no catv available) so maybe it really does act as antenna for the Quest.

The AM/FM doesn't meet junk status,it's too low for that. The Fm almost works through the Wineguard antenna, but I can see Am towers and it wont pick them up. Bill

I junked mine real quick. The first issue was the television remote volume control turned the DVD off. For the price of these campers it is unbelievable that they still use the Quest unit. I have one free to a good home. I put in a nice system with a powered sub and all 5 speakers.
