Sorry we had to pull out early

Sandra and I just wanted to thank everyone for making us feel welcome at the rally! We didn't get to meet everyone, but, we did get to meet Alta, Danny and Judy, Dan and Sandy, Les and Karen, George and Rosetta, Ron and Rhonda, Jack and Margie. We are both a little shy so it was out of our comfort zone and we appreciated all of ya'll welcoming us in
We were so sorry we had to up and leave so early, but, we did pull out Sunday morning about 8:30am because Sandra started seeing floaters and flashes of light in her right eye. We were afraid of a detached retina and drove 16 hours straight to get back home to Burleson, pulled in about 1:30am monday morning.
We were at our Opthamologist at 9am Monday morning and saw the Retina Specialist Thursday morning. Good news is the retina is not detached at this time, but, she has what is called hemorrhagic posterior vitreous detachment right next to the retina. The Dr. said the detached vitreous is something all of us will experience to some degree as we age. Dr. feels like vision will return to normal over the coming weeks or maybe even months, but, it should return. He wants to see her again in a week because the detachment and bleeding were right next to the retine and he wants to watch it for awhile. Says its a relatively easy repair if it is necessary.
We are on the waiting list for the National Rally and hope to see ya'll again sometime in the future.
Thanks,
Buster and Sandra Foster

Sorry you had to leave early but understandable. Glad to hear it wasn’t a detached retina. I hope Sandra eye recovers soon. FYI the Heber City rally for next year has a signup going on now there holding 50 sites until July. Hope to see you down the road .

God speed on healing. Karen was pleased with your news. She’s going thru the healing process on the second eye from detached retina.

Hope to see you at another rally or camping somewhere in Texas.

I had detached retina in both eyes, one in 2007 and the other in 2019. Success lies in early detection and early correction. Pretty routine procedure. Good vision in both eyes now. And I have them checked every 6 months to keep them that way. Wishing the best for y’all.

I wanted to check back in and give a quick update on Sandra. We went back Thursday morning for a follow-up with the Retina Dr. and he did find a tear at the retina. The floaters had been dissipating/less noticeable and she wasn't seeing any more light flashes so we were a bit suprised. He had told us it was a good possibilty since the vitreous seperation was so close to the retina that a tear would appear. He took us back to another room where the laser was and after about 20-25 zaps he had re-secured the vitreous and secured the tear at the retina. He said she should be good to go and for her to just have an easy, very low activity week. Sandra said it didnt really hurt until the end when it started feeling kinda uncomfortable. Later she said she felt like she had a headache in her eye, but, Tylenol took care of the pain. She feels good this morning and she follows up next Thursday.
Looks like I'm gonna be the laundry and inside house duties guy this week, under her expert supervision of course!!
Thanks for all the prayers and comments

I'm surprised you haven't been doing all those things all along. I'm the dish washer and the laundry person, as well as the grocery getter. This leaves Becky to doing all her sewing projects. She had the lightning and floater thing a few years ago and we got her into an eye doctor right away, but she didn't need any treatment and is still doing fine. It is scary when the vision is threatened. My late wife had wet AMD, ended up not being able to drive and had a difficult time around the house. Even had to put sticky bump things on the dish washer and other appliances so she could feel the start buttons.
