Auto level

Sorry for starting a new thread for an old subject. The last two return trips while auto leveling at home base I received an error message (jack fault all jacks) I had to manually level the trailer. Yesterday during auto level it did it again but this time I heard the breaker trip and reset. I'm not sure if this happened before as I wasn't paying that much attention. So 2 questions. What size breaker should I replace it with and has anyone else had this error?

I replaced my 50 with an 80. I found that for auto level, I have to raise the front fairly high before starting the auto level.

You do not have a hydraulic leveling system and that is the system that would be able to use the 80 amp breaker upgrade. I would advise using a new breaker the same rating as what is already installed in the rig, because the wiring for the electric leveling system is no way large enough for the 80 amp breaker, and if there was an electrical short or other failure, you will likely start a fire because the 80 amp breaker would not open up soon enough.

Whole heartedly agree with Bob on this one. I would not risk putting in a larger breaker with the size wiring you have.

Agreed. I'm going to put a better quality breaker in.

I'd find out why the breaker is bad, if indeed that's the problem. Breakers just don't go bad, something else makes them go bad. By it tripping, means something is wrong inline...it's doing its job by cutting the circuit off. A new breaker may do the same thing.

It was on a 5% grade left to right and both left landing legs extending at the same time. Either drawing to much current or a weak breaker. And breakers do weaken over time. My guess is a typical cheap outsourced RV component. Going to order this

I find getting the camper close to level front to back then look at the amount of space under the pads, add blocks as need to keep the stroke under 3 or 4" you will or should not have any issues.

Overloaded circuit then. Breakers last for a very long time as long as they're not overloaded, constant surges, etc. Too young to just go bad. Defective maybe.

That breaker type is good (marine) but remember, Lippert issued a notice to upgrade the hydraulics 50 to an 80.

Auto Leveling

If you have been doing manual leveling on the lippert hydraulic auto-leveling system, you may need to re-calibrate it. Call lippert. I needed a new solenoid to solve this problem.

You can have a BAD sensor, but still work fine in manual mode. I know first hand as mine quit leveling in Auto, but work fine in Manual. Turned out the Rear sensor went bad, replaced and been working fine in all modes since.

I am having a similar issue with the Ground Control 3.0 system on my MHC 372RD, minus the breaker tripping. During last 2 camps, the system threw LF and RR error codes. I did the auto retract all as the system said but it did not clear the fault. I called the service department of my dealer and the tech stated that the jacks need to be extended at least 6“ and then retracted to reset any errors.

It's a 3.0 electric not hydraulic. Auto level works. The problem is the breaker trips when leveling on a severe grade. In other words 2 jacks extending for a prolonged period of time.

I have a373RD - going to replace breaker soon as it cools a little.

What I've done is install: LEVEL MATE PRO - this allows getting the coach close before doing auto level. if it's more that a two inch out of level, it will flip an error code.

So you manually level before auto leveling? In manual mode the 3.0 will also tell you in degrees how far out of level you are. As long as it's calibrated properly. Going forward prior to leveling I'm going to check how far out I am left to right. That seams to be the most problematic. Taking the weight off the axles causing the frame to flex just enough to cause FUBAR.

No, use the red curved ramps to get side to side close and start with front high - then auto level

I meant to add (use the red curved ramps) to my post. I have a set and have used them twice. There's a learning curve to them as well. I had a friend help me once and he almost lost a finger....
