Converter problems/questions

I have a 2021 3120RL. I have factory 300 watt solar and generator prep. I have upgraded the batteries to two Big Battery 170 amp lithium batteries. I switched the power center switch to li. All was well until the converter quit working a few days ago.? Ordered a new converter from Best Converter who I have used in the past and have always been very satisfied with. I received the new converter today and installed it. Everything looks good as far as input according to my Renogy battery monitor but the light in the power center is not illuminated or flashing. Is this a problem? What could be the cause?
Thanks for your input.
Jim

Jim,

Not sure what converter you installed or what light you are discussing. Is the converter charging your battery bank? That is the real test.

I replaced the factory PD4575 converter with the same model. The light I am referring too is a green light in the power unit. My understanding is that it is an information light. It flashes different speeds depending on what is going on with the system. Yes it seems to be charging.

call manufacturer to get true answer ... if it was one for one believe green light should work in some fashion.

That light should e on if there is 120V power to the converter. What voltage do you measure at the output connections of the converter?

Just to be clear; everything is working properly and your batteries are charging; correct? You are just concerned that you do not have a Charge Wizard light illuminated on your converter? Is there an LED on your new converter?

When I replaced my non-lithium PD4575 converter with a lithium model, I received one that is marked "lithium only"; not for lead acid batteries. I cannot remember if it has a light or not. I'll look in a bit when it quits snowing.

I measured 121 vac at the posts. My surge guard is showing 121vac. The dc at the converter is showing 14.6vdc, the Renogy battery monitor is showing 14.6vdc and the led on the batteries are showing 14.5 on one and 14.6 on the other. This one was tagged as lithium only as well. Everything looks good I’m mostly curious why I don’t have the light anymore.

Thanks everyone for your input and advice

That green light gives you the status of the Charge Wizard, which is only used for the standard charge system for LA batteries. I'm suspecting that you have the converter switched to the lithium mode, so the Charge Wizard would not be functioning and that might be why the light is also not functioning.

I think you are correct in your assessment. There was a tag on this one that stated for lithium use only. I will call the people at Beet Converter tomorrow and see what he has to say.

I just went out and looked at my lithium only PD4575K. It does not have any LED's; not even a power indicator. I don't believe these units are equipped with a Charge Wizard. You are good to go.

I switched my converter over to LI when I installed my batts, it worked well till my solar was installed. Since then, I Have opened the breaker to it as my inverter has a 120amp charging circuit, so we don't use it anymore, but i still left it installed as a backup if my inverter ever goes out, all I would have to do is close the circuit breaker.
