LRE4100 Issues

As I was packing my wheel bearings I noticed the the rear Leaf Spring hanger hardware was gone and the leaf spring was sitting inside the hanger against the Frame.

I talked to Morryde, and Lippert. ordered a set of cams (yellow washer) and a set of wet bolts w/locking nuts and bushings.

Question how do I get the leaf spring in place to insert the bushing and get the bolt through the hanger and leaf spring. Pics are of the good side.

Wish I had that nice indoor garage to work in.

Id be prepared to replace the spring hangers on the rear as well.. Show the group a picture of the missing bolt and octogon plate area where bolt went through the slot on the hanger..

You will most likely have an elongated slot hole and the other rear side is gonna be the same..

If so then its gonna take new rear spring hangers to properly fix the issue ... not just the bolt and plate...

Also - this will require you to measure and adjust the axle hanger Octogon plates to get the axle properly aligned ... or your tires will wear quickly

This would be a good time to take your trailer to a HD big truck- trailer repair facility and get a real trailer alignment and the worn parts replaced. That’s what I did and couldn’t be happier, absolutely stopped my tire wear.
You probably could buy all the parts you will need and carry them with you.
Good luck

OK, So I finished packing all four sets of bearings. Two of them had the rear seal blown. The grease went everywhere on the back plates. I replaced the two back plates. Found a Dexter dealer, and bought the completed back plate with all brake parts pre assembled. The bearings and races all looked good so I just repacked them replaced all seals and dust caps as well.

Next I ordered and installed new wet bolts, bronze bushings, Cams, and lock nuts for the missing ones. Finally I greased all of the supension wet bolts.

Yesterday, I took the rig in for an alignment. good thing I did as it was out by quite abit.
Feeling good about the setup. Thanks for everyones advice and knowledge share.

To prevent the blown seals, only pack the bearings the old fashioned way, not with the zerk fittings.

Yes, thats what I believe blew the seals as well. This is the first time I attempted packing the wheel bearings. I let it go to long for sure before performing the repack. Going to keep an eye out for any play in the wheels and retorque them over my next trip.
