Another slide problem

Background: On our travels through the SW, one of our slides went gunnybag. Was going in all crooked and then wouldn't move at all. Called a mobile RV repair guy and he diagnosed it as the control module underneath. He didn't have one and couldn't get one before we were going to leave. He showed me how to move it manually and said to get a module off of Amazon. I installed it today and it appears that's not the problem or I'm doing something wrong. I followed the recommended procedure on YouTube, moved it to the extended position, retracted it about 10"in, out and in 3 times and it still acted the same as the old module. Doesn't seem to want to synch. Misdiagnosed? Did I do the procedure wrong? Thanks for any advice.
