Kitchen Table Top Gas Strut

I need to remove the table top from the dining table. I can't figure out how to remove the strut. I attached a photo of the end I need to disconnect. It seems to have a clip on it but I'm afraid of breaking or bending it.

Thanks for a assistance.

That is a standard type fitting. Insert a small flat blade screw driver in the end and lift up on the spring clip. Then the end cap will come off the ball on the rod.

Carl beat me to it. Here are some pics - there is a band on each end of the strut. Use a flat head screw driver to remove the band at each end and the strut will come off the ball.

I have never tried to remove the table top - but in one of the Montana factory tour videos...
Pic 1 - the black table top frame has been installed and the guy in the white shirt brings the table top thru the door.
Pic 2 - he sets the table top onto the frame and installs screws from underneath the table top unit on front side of the unit...
Pic 3 - he scoots around to the other side and installs screws from below the table top.

So...look underneath for some screw heads and take those out.

Thanks for all the help. It was very easy once I learned how. Had to remove the table top because the back part of the box where the hinges are, completely broke loose. Montana used no glue and the brad nails gave way. The gas strut was actually pushing the box at and angle compared to the table top. I have decided not to put the strut back because I can open the top some much higher without it. I have much greater access to the storage now.

Again, thanks to all that responded. Now I can go enjoy Acadia NP!
