These new fangled protectors on the newer rigs might gag on that setup.

Should be no problem. That is the way house wiring is done. And the way my detached shop building wired from my house panel is done. I have some GFCI outlets in the shop and those function properly. And plug in outlet testers show all outlets in the shop are properly wired and grounded and voltage on each hot is correct.

I'm running a Progressive Hardwired unit and it's sitting out there plugged in now. I have another outlet on the end of the garage and the EMS wouldn't let power in until I attached a ground wire to a ground stake, then all was good.

Called THREE. None could do it before October. They said I'd be better doing it myself. We are very rural.

I'd do it myself if I were you. Just too much creditable info online about sizing and equipment to worry about it.

I would also use aluminum in underground conduit. Our main line for our "sticks and bricks" was aluminum overhead from the transformer on the pole to the house it was for a 200A service at least 250' long. Don't recall the gauge.

Be sure to use paste for the connections:

Being rural with no permits and inspections required I would do it myself. As long as you feel comfortable doing it. Rent a trencher at Home Depot for 4 hours. I think you would be happier with it buried and out of sight and out of the way than strung overhead. Overhead would require setting 2-3 poles.

I agree with Bill. I build my machine shop and sunroom without a building permit and ran a wire a hundred yards to my camper and tractor shed. Sometimes it’s better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.

No reason they should. The ground at the house in a rural area is done the same way and that doesn't bother my hardwired PI EMS.
