fresh water

home for a few months do you dump all the fresh water you have left in your tank if you will not be using it for a few months? i always have, concerned about alge getting into tank, but then again when and if you do remove the water you will never get it all out should you leave some in and just chlorinate it? have had a rv for many years and did it this way any other thoughts about this and what do you do?
thx
