I guess I didn't recheck the manual to verify this, but I decided to come up with a different way somehow.

I fastened a zip tie to the post at the top of the door and another on the lever that goes into the body of the unit up near the top of the door. Then I put a zip tied between the two and drew it tight enough to stop the door swing to where I wanted it. A small piece of tape the keep the two sides of the middle zip tie from separating and another to hold the zip tie on the post on the door in place and that's about it. When the door shuts it folds up out of the way and doesn't get behind the gasket and isn't really visible when looking at the fridge from the front. It's a pretty rudimentary fix but it's functioning quite well actually right now. Keeps the door about a foot from the pantry when fully open. We're still careful while opening the door and it doesn't seem like it's putting too much pressure on the lever coming out of the body of the fridge, but we shall see I guess.

If I find the zip ties start snapping or some other reason this doesn't work, is there another way people are keeping the door handle off the pantry door glass? Or did I waste my time and there's a door adjustment that handles this?
Good idea!
We have the RV fridge, but it has a similar issue. I'm going to see if your idea will work on the RV fridge.
Thanks for posting this!

8a. BEDROOM - under bed drawers

8a. BEDROOM - under bed drawers

We wanted to organize the storage in the bedroom, and my wife really liked the idea of drawers under the bed. I was reluctant as I did not want to lose a lot of space to the drawer hardware, and I was not sure that the bed framing would work if I cut holes in it. Well, once I measured everything I realized that I could put drawers in the bed and still have a lot of bulk storage left in the middle for extra bedding. And, when I looked at the bed frame and saw how it was built, I realized that the side panels had only one center support and I could make drawers on either side without compromising any strength for supporting the bed.

Here's some photos. Enjoy!

9b. DINING - shelves beside table

9b. DINING - shelves beside table

I love the shelf and cabinet that Montana puts in the dining area. But it doesn't have any storage, which would be really convenient. By adding shelves to either side, storage is added without losing any space.
I started by making a frame using some 3" trim, ripped into 1 1/2" pieces. Then, I attached 1/4" plywood strips to the inside of the frame and to the wall.
Next, I cut some pieces of 1/8" white wallboard to use as the shelves.
Then, some 1x8" pine shelving was stained and installed as the tops.
Finally, to use as storage, I found some fabric drawer organizers on Amazon that were the perfect size. Link here

Photos below. Enjoy!

9b. DINING - printer drawer

9b. DINING - printer drawer

As part of working on the road, we needed to setup the dining table as a workspace. The first part was to get some "desk storage", which is in the prior post to install shelves on either side of the dining table.
The next part is to have a place for a printer, handy to the workspace. In prior posts, I showed how I installed drawers in the area underneath the couches. My wife came up with the idea of installing the printer into one of the drawers, and this is the project to do that.

The drawer was already built and installed, so I built a removable shelf to install on top of the drawer. This supports the printer, and allows storage underneath the printer.
Now, to use the printer, just open the drawer!

Enjoy!

Yes, I was thinking of that. I haven't done that yet as I would need to get some wood putty to fill the holes on the hinges, but I think the dealer has some.
I think it would make it a bit more convenient, for sure.

Thanks!

10. OUTDOOR KITCHEN - big project!

Hi all,

I enjoyed having a small outdoor kitchen on our last 5th wheel and knew I wanted one on our Montana. But, there were challenges with the one offered by Montana, so time to roll up my sleeves and build one. The kitchen is a slide out one that installs into the main storage bay opening on the curb side. It is 24" wide, 29" tall, and rests on 60" long drawer slides.

The goal was to have an outdoor kitchen with all of the utensils and accessories close by, along with an outdoor bar area.
I used a 24x24" stainless top from a restaurant table, and a 12x48" stainless shelf on pop up hinges along with a mini fridge to fit.
The frame is 10 series aluminum extrusion (Faztek Canada, similar to 8020.net), and 1/4" baltic birch plywood finished with black paint then a coat of rattle can black bedliner.
There is no water or sink yet; I will likely add RV outdoor taps with a quick connect spray hose (just inside the storage bay) and will use the 2 foldable tubs that I store in the main drawer.

The stove is really interesting; it is a Camp Chef Sidekick, see here. This is designed to attach to the side of some of the Camp Chef pellet grill models, but I riveted 24" drawer slides onto it to mount in my kitchen. It has a really great burner, but the cool part is that it also has accessories; a griddle, a BBQ sear box and a Pizza oven! I have all of the accessories and they store in carry bags to the left of my kitchen (behind the door there)

Enjoy!
Brad

Very Nicely Done! That's the one thing my wife misses the most from our previous SOB is the outdoor kitchen. You may have inspired me to get to work on that.

It was a tricky but fun project. The extruded aluminum is a great product to work with, once you understand the fastening options and get your design down.
We have the Super Solar Flex which takes up about 40% of the main storage bay, so the only way the project worked for me is that we have the 3790 floor plan with storage in the rear.
I see you have a similar floor plan, so it should work well for you also! And, without the SSF, you should have a lot more storage in that main bay than what I do.

Yeah, I only have the Jaboni pre-wire, no solar. We don't boondock so I probably will never bother with solar. I do have lots of space, but it stays pretty full with other stuff right now. I'm gonna have to rethink what I carry where.

1d. KITCHEN - cutting board island flip up shelves

Hi all,

Another member posted their counter top flip up extensions, using wood cutting boards, and I realize that I did this mod months ago, but forgot to post here! I decided to post anyway, as the other member has a very different kitchen layout, with no island. The solution here will apply to a broad range of floorplans - basically anyone who has an island in their floorplan.

Why this mod? The island is much shorter in this unit compared to earlier models. I believe this is so that when the residential fridge option is installed, the island is short enough that the lower drawer freezer can be opened. So, even though we have the RV fridge with the freezer on top, all models come with the smaller island. This means that there is almost no counter space beside the large double sink.

Solution? Grab some 1-1.5" thick wood cutting boards, along with some flip up shelf brackets and install them on either side of the island, to greatly increase working counter space. And, always have cutting boards handy as well!

Details:
-larger cutting board dimensions: 20"x15"x1.5" with 16" folding shelf brackets.
https://www.amazon.com/20x15x1-5in-C...0-4513d670b6bc

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...e?ie=UTF8&th=1

-smaller cutting board dimensions: 16"x12"x1.5" with 10" folding shelf brackets.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hope you find this useful; we sure do!

My pleasure! It's not a hard project, and makes a big difference.

Brad, I think you or maybe someone else did post this mod some time ago. I've had the cutting boards on my Amazon wish list for a while. Acacia wood if I remember correctly. Great idea!

Maybe I posted it somewhere else, but for me it has been easier to just keep it all here in this "Big Thread". The mods allow me to go back and edit the 1st post with links, in case someone wants links to all of the mods... link

Yes, I believe they are Acacia wood. They do seem to soak up a lot of cutting board oil; I see they need another shot of it.

It's pretty quick and easy, likely an hour or so if you have your tools organized
