Septic Emptying in Freezing Weather

I've been in freezing temperatures when dumping the septic tanks. When finished, I disconnect the sewer hose, hold it up and make sure it's drained.

What I'm having go through my mind is how would I handle dumping the septic tanks in freezing temperatures when using my macerator, or what do you do when using The Solution? I wouldn't use my macerator unless the sewer connection was too far away from the rig to reach with my 30 feet of 3" sewer hose.

Any inputs?

Orv, Only a guess on my part as I have not been in freezing weather, nor do I have either of there. But I believe you hook up to a water supply. I'd say hook up to the outside shower and use warm (not hot as you may need more than the hot water tank holds) to run the macerator, or Solution. Same if you needed to rinse the 3" sewer hose. Warm water.

Bob, that would possibly work but for me, I've disconnected my outside shower. The problem that keeps going through my mind is that the liquid that remains in a long 5/8" or 1" hose would freeze. There would be no way of emptying it unless you pumped air through it to get the moisture out. As I mentioned about emptying the sewer hose, you can pick it up and hold one end in the air until it's empty.

Orv,
Just wondering why using your compressor wouldn't work? Seems like blowing air through the hose is a great solution.

Do you leave the hose out or coil it back up after each dump? If you leave it out, you could disconnect it at the trailer end, raise it up a few feet and then walk the hose out, lifting it up as you go. That should drain it the same as your sewer hose. Any water that is left in the hose after that won't hurt if it does freeze. Just leave it disconnected until next time. I'm guessing that you don't leave the pump outside anyway.

When we owned the dog and cat boarding kennel we would run into this problem ever winter. After hosing out the runs we would walk the water out of the hose if we had a threat of freezing temperatures. The trick is to be patient and allow the water to run out slowly. There will be very little water left in the water hose if you walk it out slowly.
