It's 4 degrees and the park water is froze

After all the time, trouble and expense to keep us from freezing up, (See the referenced threads), it gets down to 4 degrees and the park water freezes up.

WE ARE NOT HAPPY CAMPERS! The only saving grace is our on board water tank is full so "we" are not out of water. I just can't believe this mobile home park didn't take more precautions to prevent this. We are in the mountains of Prescott Arizona, for heavens sake. At 5300' it gets cold in the winter time!

Sorry, I had to rant here to keep from yelling at the owners and getting kicked out as they seem to be more worried about making the place pretty than doing any real maintenance.

Be glad your water tank is full. As RVers, we must remember the 6 P's learned in the Army.

And be happy you're not one of the mobile home residents. There are some folks who are really upset.

The 6 P's are very appropriate. I also like the civilian version, "If You Fail to Prepare, You Prepare to Fail"

Most of the folks in this park are older so I've offered a small amount of water to my close neighbors. So far no one has taken me up on it though.

The park we are in (for another 5 days) have 28 spots open for the winter. The water service for each site comes out of the ground and sticks up about 2 or 3 feet and then has a frost free handle. The management just wrapped insulation around the pipes and dropped 55 gallon plastic barrels over the tops. I told them I would get my own barrel which I did. I mounted a heat lamp inside plus extra insulation on the pipe, my cord and heated water line then comes out under the barrel. I have been good to go. This morning we watched park maintenance working on two sites down the road that apparently have frozen service. We have come close to zero a couple of nights and today/tonight it is very windy. I suspect the park will be installing heat lamps under all these barrels before the winter is over.

I wish you would tell that to my fancy weather station I got for my birthday back in October. I thought it was going to freeze up last night.

The calender may indicate it is not winter yet, but I can assure you that Mother Nature aint going by the calender this year! 4" in snow coming Saturday. Monday can't get here fast enough.
