What is the better covers for a Montana for snow?

Hi. My wife and I are purchasing a 2007 3400RL to be parked on our lake lot full time in Northern WI. Because the location it is going is not very easy to pull it on or off, we will be leaving it onsite year around. Snow last year was about 4 feet deep on our old Jayco. What would be the best cover to purchase to protect our new investment from the elements, especailly winter elements? Also any tips such as leaving roof vents cracked open for air circulation?
Thanks

I am not a big fan of covers, (unless it's a garage) as they don't last and tend to cause more damage then they prevent. We leave our's outside winterized and 1 vent with a cover over it slightly open. Jim

I don't like covers either. Seems they either rub a mark on the RV or the RV rubs a hole in the cover. If you could find covered storage, that would be the way to go...even a pole barn would be better than a cover...IMHO.

Putting a cover on a rv in the summer is one thing but I can't imagine dealing with one that is covered in snow and ice. Put a shed over it if you can.

Forget the cover. Make wood boxes to cover roof vents, skylight and ac units. With that much snow you will more than likely want to clean snow off the roof. The boxes will prevent you from breaking the plastic covers.

I realize kansas doesn't have the snow you do, but we got several feet on a couple of occasions before we went full time and never had a cover. When you do winterize the rig besides preventing the water lines from freezing, remember to pull the batteries if you don't leave it plugged in.

If you are going to cover things up there with wooden boxes, make sure you don't get winds like we do occasionally. A wooden box up that high around here would end up through a neighbor's window in a good windstorm. In fact, last wind storm, we had a Montana 5'er flipped upside down in the yard. I live in Northern Utah.

I see no use for a cover except to keep the summer sun off of it. The sun is the most damaging element our rigs are normally exposed to. The problem is, the summer is exactly when I don't want it covered, so that's out.
I'm not the least bit worried about snow load.

Covers are great for sun protection, but unless sized right can create more problems than they prevent. I would not recommend a cover for snow/ice protection.

I've always covered my rv's in winter. I get pretty anal about winterization, so putting the cover on when all is done, helps to protect it over the long winter. I had an Adco on my Cougar that lasted for about 8 seasons. It was pretty much done by the time I traded for the Montana. I bought an Adco for it as well. I've never experienced any of the issues listed above. And yes, I leave a window cracked open. For me, it's money well spent. We tend to get snow around here, too.

Here in Alaska we get some pretty brutal winters with lots of snow. We bought a Calmark cover for ours. I didn't like the option of having snow sitting on it for months on end. I have used it 2 winters so far with zero issues. They are not cheap, but I feel you get what you pay for. Make sure you cover any sharp edges with inner tubes or something to keep them from cutting the cover. Their customer service is great and can help you get the measurements right to get a semi-custom fit.
