Using RV propane for Outdoor Grill

We own a 2023 Montana High Country 295rl

Underneath the steps near the frame is supposedly a low pressure propane line which has a cap on it. I spoke to my dealer and they looked like no one ever asked this question???

Has anyone utilized this for their outdoor grill.
I have looked at videos online and can't figure what to purchase.

Any assistance on what parts to order would be appreciated.

I realize I have to make changes to the grill as the pressure will already be regulated.

Thanks in advance

Lots of members use that low pressure Propane takeoff. A Search will uncover lots of Threads. Here are a few:

Seasure1, Carl has the info there. Our dealer had ours ready to use. It’s a female quick release with a shutoff ahead of the connector. They sell the hose as well. Enjoy. (We have our Blackstone and fire pit converted. We haven’t converted the Weber yet.)

Coleman propane camp stoves and griddles will not work with them, even if you by-pass the "included" pressure regulator that connects to the little 1 pound propane bottles. There is only 1 Coleman propane camp stove that works because its set to the same pressure as your camper. But, after purchasing 3 different camp stoves and it still did not work, I finally learned I had the wrong ones. I'll be danged if I buy another one. I find it easier to just use the one-pound propane tanks. So, whatever you do, DO NOT get a Coleman camp stove. It will not work if connected after the camper propane regulator .... no matter how you modify it.

no 3rd a/c heat pump

A whole lot easier and cheaper just by a exstended 10 or 15 foot propane line with a with a propane bottle connector and regulator on one end and a quick connect fitting on the other and just use the camper propane bottle for the gas. This can be had for 35 dollars or less.Or just buy a little 2 lb propane bottle and store it when not in use . Ours last all summer.

You should have a QD like the one in the picture. Remove the hose and regulator from the grill and replace with the one in the picture.

Wrong!!! I don't know why you insist on saying the Coleman won't work. Yes it has a proprietary regulator that doesn't work as delivered. But it will work with a simple modification. A member here told me how to do it and I have documented the modification numerous time. I know of five others with Colemans who have since made the mod. Here is a link to one of the postings on how to do this. Read Post #13 https://www.montanaowners.com/forums...ad.php?t=90124
I love my Coleman and have used it for over 15 years this way.

Carl, looking at that post, yes, a Coleman will work directly off a 20 or 30 pound propane tank. In fact, I carry an extra 30 pound tank for this very purpose (to use with the Coleman camp stove). And it does work just fine. But when connecting to the quick connect on the camper, it's extremely low pressure, and even a very slight wind will blow out the flame, if it makes a flame at all. But yes, hook up directly to the tank, no problem.

DutchmenSport: The key here is with the mod, a standard extension hose off the LOW PRESSURE quick disconnect works fine. If you want to use a standard propane tank then you need a hose with a regulator and an Ace connector. But the proprietary Coleman regulator can be eliminated.

There are two hoses that can be used on the grill.

This one if you want to hook directly from the RV propane output under the unit. In my case the BlackStone On the Go in the pix below.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09D2SXK21
You have to not connect the Blackstone provided regulator circled in red. go direct from propane line feed under the RV to the grill input.

If on the other hand, you want to connect direct to a 5#-20# LP bottle, then use this hose:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08P7H13Q4?th=1
Leave the supplied Blackstone regulator connected.

I suspect all the other portable griddles use the same configuration.

I use mine with my blackstone griddle. Just remove the regulator on your grill and purchase the hose from Amazon and good to go.
