Generators

I built this years ago with two Honda 2000 watt gens in parallel. It sat in front of my 5th wheel hitch under my Bak Flip tonneau. The red cord plugged into the 5th wheel & I used it to power up two 6volt speed controlled DC fans to pull air through each gen compartment. The orange cord powered the 5th wheel. It was quiet & the gens being under the tonneau I felt were safer from most thieves. The wood dolly was to move it around the house if we had a power outage during the winter

I picked up a 5000 watt Predator Inverter Friday. It’s a well designed unit. Every thing is easy accessible, the oil fill and drain, the battery, air filter. Some stuff you access on one side some the other side. All the side panels have thumb screws including the air filter. It comes with a complete propane hook up and remote start. Its a different tone running than the 3500 watt unit almost the same as my 3000 watt Honda. It’s 3900 running watts a little more than most and a lot lower price at $1000 but that price will not last long. Look for about $1300 next year.

We have the same set up that Rorhmann has, minus the 6 gallon tank.

I run a 15k BTU AC unit that has a soft start with a 2500watt inverter generator using a 20 amp extension cord with no issues. If you want to run two A/C units, you will need two 2500 watt inverter generators with the parallel adapters. You will also need to install soft starts on BOTH A/C units. You should then be able to run two A/C units plus lights etc. To run a microwave or other high watt appliance you will probably have to shut down one of the A/C units temporarily. The only way to know for sure is to try to run all three and see if your generator trips its breaker. If you have two A/C units, you probably have a 50amp system and power cord. You will want a parallel adapter with a 50 amp plug. You can always get a 50amp to 30 amp plug adapter if you need one. Lots of ways to rig your system but you need a good idea of your power needs to start with. I use a WEN brand dual fuel inverter generator with great results. Check them out on line. Hope g th his helps.

I bought the Easy Starts from Micro Air. I also have their thermostats.
They have logic that "learns" what your unit requires to start it most efficiently and applies it to customize it to the unit. Take a look at their website at

No Louder than 2 Honda 2000's in Parallel under load. I had the 2 Honda setup and one would always trip when I started the second AC. Only thing I do while running on the 4500 inverter is shed the hot water heater and run it on gas. No issues at all. I have a generator hitch I got from E-Trailer attached to the back of the 5ver. It will run all night with both AC's cranking in this FL Heat

Attached is our set up. It's a Honda EU2200i. The attached photo shows the line voltage and amperage when we were running 1 AC unit and nothing else. It was an 80 deg day. We have soft starts on both AC units so we can run either unit. This is not ideal, but could get you out of a jam. The Honda units are very easy to handle. They do not weigh much. I can run 8 hours on 1 tank of gas with it.
