Exposed electrical connections.

I was greatly alarmed and concerned when we took delivery of our '05 Montana due to the fact there were no electrical coverings on any connection points for power to the hydralic pump for the slides. I would not feel safe storing any metal objects in this compartment owing to the possibility of shorting to ground and creating a fire risk. A five or ten cent cap on the terminal bolts would have eliminated this dangerious construction oversight.

Someone forgot to put the protective coverings on...... my rig had them. Just grab small packet of wire nuts next time you're in a hardware store. Or electrical tape will do the job too.

The battery/generator area is not and ideal storage space. If for no other reason than the one you mentioned. You must be very careful when working in that area. I've created sparks several times and am lucky that is all I got! When working in and around this area one should disconnect the battery and or disconnect the shore supply.

If you do store stuff in this area make sure everything is secured so as to not cause problems with the wires and electrical connections. Besides my batteries and generator the only things I carry in that space are all plastic and are secured so as to not move around.

If you're still under warranty just take the unit back in to dealer and have them fix the missing covers.

Ours are well covered and the battery has a cover as well. We've never had a problem with storing even metal items in the front locker. I wonder if the difference is that we don't have a generator? Ours is pretty full, as is the regular basement locker.
