Inverter Power Button

Quick question for you guys with Residential Refrigerators. I had mine replaced under warranty, and it is working great, that is as long as the power is on. We recently lost shore power and the refrigerator went completely dark, and had no power. I checked in the pass through area and found the inverter. I pushed what I assumed was a power on button. It lit up green. I went back inside and the fridge was working on no shore power. I’m mechanically illiterate, thus my stupid questions below.

My questions:
Do you think the installers simply forgot to turn the inverter back on after replacing my fridge?

Should this power button be on at all times?

Does shore power automatically over ride the inverter?

Thanks in advance! Love this site!

Yes they proably left the power button off.

You can leave it on all the time BUT if you leave the unit unplugged for more than 4hours or so it will run the batteries down.

Shore power does override the inverter. There is a transfer switch if you chase the wire coming out of the inverter.

Really there is no need for the inverter unless you dry camp or are on the road for a long time. We have found that the Residential fridge will keep things quite cold all day if left closed and particularly if you freeze some bottles of water in the freezer section (works just like a ice chest). We leave our inverter off. But we are full time in a park with reliable power.

A friend of mine bought a new 3121 and the factory had neglected to connect the wiring from the inverter to the plug for the refrigerator. JT.

We leave the inverter off when on shore power.
When traveling, it is part of our routine to turn it on after unplugging.

Jim is right, the fridge will stay cool for a few hours.
But, in the current heat and being unplugged for 5 - 6 hours while driving..
use the inverter.

Our inverter stays on when we are on a 20 or 30 amp service. It has a load sharing feature that allows to inverter to add to the shore power if you turn something on asking for more power from the pedestal.

The load sharing feature is something I wasn't aware of. Thanks for the information.

The Magnum and Go Power inverter chargers are the only ones I am aware of with the load sharing feature. They have the inverter, charger and transfer switch all integrated into a single unit.
