Front led light strips
Hi my name is Lori and I recently purchased a used 2018 Montana High Country 305 camper. This is quite a step up from ground camping 40 yrs ago with my son. I have quickly learned the operational aspect of the trailer but no one showed me how to turn on the led strip lights on the nose of the trailer and I can’t find the switch. Please help so that I can use these. Many thanks.

There is a switch in the controls cabinet for the nose cap lights in my unit. I added labels for the nose cap and the ceiling fan switch (big switch on the right).
The 3 tank heater switches came labeled from the factory.

Here's a photo of mine.
On the second row, the third one from the left turns on my front cap lights. It's not marked. The 2 stars mark the one for the main living area and kitchen house lights. I re-wired these to a new switch that is positioned outside of this box, easier to reach, and not confusing to hit in the dark.
I covered that blinding light that comes on when the door is opened. It glare right at my face, can't see anything, even in daylight.
When I drive after dark, I love flipping on those front cap lights. Mine are yellow / orange, so they blend right in the the front running lights. Can't do this if they are blue or white. It creates an really interesting view from the front, especially with the truck attached.

So I checked for all of the switches suggested and I don’t have one. All three strips can’t be burned out at once the unit is only a 2018 so now I’m thinking fuse. Any suggestion where to start. My dealership was not very helpful at all. Told me to remove every fuse to see which one might be burned.

You will likely have to check all the blade fuses in your panel.
Make sure to check with an Ohm meter and not just visually. I have had some that were burned out but didn't appear to be when looked at.

I wouldn't be surprised if they forgot to put a switch in. I think somebody else here had a new Montana and that is what happened to theirs.

They are the standard automotive type fuses. They look like the photo below...

With those type of fuses, you don't need to pull them to see if they are blown. There are holes on the top of them, one over each end that you can put the volt meter probe into, with the other on a ground in the panel, and check for power. If both holes when probed show 12 volts, then the fuse is good.

Go out and look under the front cap of trailer. On mine there is a toggle switch encapsulated in soft plastic. It is to the right of the hitch box.

Hi Lori - I have a 2018 HC 305RL and I don’t have light strips on the front. Are you sure you have them?
Welcome to the forum!!

Good point! Looks like they only came with cap marker lights. Maybe an add on?

Well I believe they’re strip lights. They are across the top of the nose and down each side and have a wire going into the trailer

Screen shots below from a sales video for 2018 MHC 305RL.
LED light strips are visible on the cap in the first pic.
The second pic shows the control panel. One of the switches in the highlighted area will control the nose cap lights. Operate one switch at a time and walk around noting which lights turn on. If the fuses are all good - then there is a wiring short somewhere.

If I recall correctly after replacing all my CAP lights, the factory wiring is colored orange and white and comes down the driver's side, which you can see from the driver's side propane tank storage door. The CAP light numbered orange wire is #5, which is on the wire itself. Here's a complete breakdown of the standardized Keystone 12V wiring chart.

Welcome to the MOC. Please, once you figure it out turn them off at night in the campground. They can be very bright in a darkened campground.

I believe they install these absolutely worthless LED strips to distract the owners from the faulty important things on these rigs.
