Satellite connection.

OK Team,
From what I have been reading, hooking up the dish to the connection inside my wet bay will not work.
I did try and yes it did not work. So in my High Country 330RL I simply popped the rear screen out just enough to slide my coax through behind the Sofa bed and hooked it up to the TV and all is good. Now I would like to know if I can drill a hole into the side of the slide out and mount a waterproof trap door so to speak so when I’m setup I can push my coax through the door where my TV is.
Any help out there would be great
Thanks Jeff and Jill

On my 2007 3075RL I could open a side panel in the cabinet under my TV and see the outside wall. So I drilled a hole in that wall, installed a waterproof coax connector there, and connected a 5 or 6 ft coax from that to the TV for a permanent installation. Then when setting up I just lift the rubber cap and connect my outside coax.

I drilled a hole thru the sidewall on a slideout for my satellite cable. Put on a permanent connector with a cover for the outside of it. The inside just gets connected to the receiver with another cable.

I was fortunate that on my unit, the outside wall behinde the tv tray is a false wall about 4 inches thick. And on the side of the tv area is an electric outlet. So I was able to remove the electric faceplate and was able to shine a light and look to make sure there were noe wires I was going to drill thru. Maybe use some sort of metal detector to check for wiring????

what I did in our slide out was I ran a piece of coax with a coupler that I pushed through where some spray foam was used. Put a little electrical tape on the coupler when traveling and then just hook up the coax to the coupler. Much easier that drilling etc.

I ran a 6' coax behind the TV down thru the wood cabinet and out thru the slide wire loom. I plug in my Dish Tailgater there. Maybe someday I will chase down all the OEM splitters and replace them with better quality splitters and plug in inside the convenience center.

Could never get the installed connection to work. I bought a thru-the-wall connector and found where I could bring the cable through a cabinet close to the receiver.

Just yesterday I pulled a cell phone booster wire through our TV slide.

I went underneath and found where the bundle of wires went up into the floor.
I went behind the TV and disconnected the satellite wire from the back of the wall mount.
I taped the new wire to the end behind the TV.
Then I went underneath and pulled the old satellite cable down, bringing the new wire down with it.
My satellite wire is a different color than the cable wire, so that helps.

Jeff & Jill. I just did a similar set up for Starlink. I removed my fireplace my tv is right above the fireplace , then used a stud finder to make sure that I didn’t hit anything. I drilled a hole in the side wall 😳 and used the SmartPlug in the picture, this plug would work for your satellite dish hook up. (I had to modify the plug) because I used the SmartPlug over the plug I used for my Starlink cable. I had to cut out the center of the plug as I used another plug (in the picture) to cover the plug for Starlink, I did this for more protection from water intrusion. I cut and used RJ45 Ethernet Connector on both ends of the Starlink cable. This works really well, for anyone wanting to do this for Starlink it works and have not noticed any degradation satellite strength. I hope this helps with your question.
Safe travels Steve.
