What is this for?
Hi all,
I was inspecting under the bathroom sink checking all the connections for water and found this valve connected to a white hose coming up under the sink. Not 100% sure what this is for? I think it goes to my water pump.

that's a backflow preventing anti siphon vacuum breaker valve for your black tank flush.

So this should be open at all times? I did not try turning the top knob, not sure if it even does turn and why I would want it closed.

No you don't do anything with it except keep an eye on it when you use your black tank flush. Make sure you do NOT use more than 55psi on your black tank flush or it will leak.
Most people replace it with a quality brass one

Or just take it off and throw it away like I did.

I'm on my second or third camco one and at this point a brass one will be installed soon because these cheap ones always leak.

Personally I would yank it out and throw it away and dont waste money on a brass valve.. install a shark bite 1/2 inch coupler...
Then on the outside at the black tank flush use a garden hose back preventer and you are done...
The plastic unit is junk and will sooner or later cause you to flood your RV if you dont catch the leak quickly enough

I think I will do what your recommending as I am already using a back flow preventer on the tank flush side
Thanks
