Nailbender,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I hope you will be able to secure insurance that will allow you to replace the old Monty. And you are so correct.... they are just things! And no one was hurt or died. Those are the good things. And as hard as it is to cope with that loss all or most of things can be easily replaced.
Good luck.

What a sight to greet you. Did you hear the tree come down, or did you find it later? I hope you didn't lose anything important...inside the trailer, that is. Those pictures have got to give everyone a sinking feeling in the pit of their stomachs. I always think of the Monty as a place to go if something happens to the stick house, not the other way around. So glad it wasn't the house, too. Good luck picking out your new Monty.
Bob

The shredded awning I received from the recent storms (I am in San Bernardino) pales in comparison to your loss. Thank goodness you are all alright

That is just terrible but there will be no problem for the insurance company to call that a total loss.Hopefully the Insurance company will be speedy in settling the claim. Tnak God no one was in the camper.

Nailbender, Glad to hear you and yours didn't suffer any injuries. I have had 2 trees fall on my stick house (2 different events). Sounded like a bomb had hit us. Your homeowners policy will probably provide the coverage. The insurance company will depreciate your Monty and the parking structure, that less any deductible will be you pay off. The $1,000 coupon will help make up for any loss. Consider salvaging appliances and other components from your Monty.

I can't imagine what you're going through with this loss. Even though it can be replaced, it's still devastating to one's mind. Hopefully the insurance company will come through rapidly and you can get another Montana.

Those are quite the pics - Mother Nature sure doesn't mess around.
I don't think there will be much argument about what happened here.
So sorry for your loss, but now you'll get a fresh start again.

Thanks to everybody for the kind words and encouragement.
We were very lucky not to have been inside the Montana when the tree fell. Our power had gone out that morning and my wife hadn't said anything yet, but she was thinking about going out to the Montana to have coffee and read. If she had had said anything, I would have been the first one out the house door, always enjoyed being in the Montana even if it was at home. We finally got our power restored after 36 hrs. which had helped things
When the tree fell, there was very little noise from it, just a heavy sounding thud. Our town officials are trying to get Paradise declared a disaster area, although I am not sure how that will affect us. We have never been through anything like this before. I use to do a lot if reconstruction work for insurance companies, but it sure different when it is my own loss.
