I just had a pivot bolt on the stairs break
NOT one that was involved in the recall. One on the first step out from the doorway. I can't believe 2-year old stairs are breaking and being recalled. In fact, I still can't believe that a $70,000 trailer only has a one year warranty on such things. Imagine if a $70K diesel truck only had a one year warranty! We wouldn't tolerate it.

Unfortunately keystone has always been up front on their one year warranty

did the end of the rivet pop off? When it happened to ours because the rivet has a shoulder on it, I drilled and tapped the end of the rivet and locktite a screw and washer back on, been about 3-4 years now with no problems

No question and no dispute that they have been forthcoming in their warranty parameters. My point is that a 1 year warranty on a $70K RV is ridiculous. Would we buy an auto with that ever again? Nope. But, the RV industry (Not all brands though), at some point, decided their products are only worth a 1 year warranty. The same as a $18 steam iron. Sad....

Yes, they have a one year warranty on the whole rig, but quite a number of the components installed on these rigs have a longer warranty, and you might call the company that makes the steps to see what their warranty is.

There is a safety recall on the steps on some units. Call keystone with your Vin they may replace. It is a safety recall so they have to fix it per there service center.

It was too big of a hassle to deal with "an authorized service center" and make the appt. then get it in. I'm moving the trailer to southern Utah for winter storage and I just fixed it myself. I installed a bolt, 2 flat washers, and a nylon locking nut it the rivets place that broke off.
I've used the trailer for a total of about 4 weeks in 2 years, and the stairs are breaking....Sheeesh!

Yeah, mine has already been in the shop for that recall. It was ANOTHER of the pivot hinges that broke this time.

I just drilled out the step hole to match the other, and inserted a 1" bolt, 2 flat-washers, and a nylon locking nut. It should be fine. I'll just wait for the other side to go now...

Mark-- Just got a recall on the steps from Keystone. Fortunately, I have had the steps changed out while at the Fall Rally and it does not apply to the new steps(I HOPE)but you might be getting this same recall so watch for it!
