Want to Stop the "CHUCK" ...what would you do ?
ok so my set up is a montana 385br -41 feet and my hitch is a pullrite super glide 20k that moves back automatically.
this is my pin box
so do i install an "trail air ride"
or change the suspension system to a COMFORT RIDE springs and shocks with independent axle control ....
which would you do and why
at around $1400 can only do one
what have you done or what would you do ?

Just to help clarification, are you experiencing "chunking" (forward and backward banging), or are you experiencing "chunking" when you hit holes and sudden dips (up and down banging)? I have both happen, but nothing excessive or nothing I can't live with.

We have had two superglides for the last 10 years of full timing with three different Monty's. The one constant is we always had a Moryde pin box. The last couple of national rallies a number of people dumped that pinbox you have from their new Montanas and paid Moryde to replace them. That's a big expendature for a new camper and I was surprised at how many did it. I would agree that you need to look at a different pin box. As far as the suspention, we've always had independant suspension and wouldn't go any other way.

I didn’t have much chucking to begin with, but replacing the rigid OEM pin box with a 5th Airborne air ride pin box removed most all chucking I did have. Similar principle to the Trailair with air bag and shock absorber.

Bruce, I had a lot of what I call "porpoising" on bridges and overpasses. It's where the nose of the trailer would start bouncing up and down and get progressively worse until I slowed way down.
I added Timbren bump stops to my truck and eliminated almost all of this annoying behavior. Is this what you are having?

No chucking at all. It does get bouncy sometimes, when that happens I just add air to the bags. Stock suspension morryde pin box. Anderson hitch. Some like it some don’t, let’s not let this post start the bashing.

Had severe chucking and bucking. After cross country trip, our backs were toast. Ordered Reese 5th Airborne to be shipped to campground. Installed it and chucking and bucking was gone.
Used to grit my teeth when approaching bridge transitions in anticipation. Now I still grit my teeth and after we're through the transition and felt nothing, we both smile...made the right decision.
Like the Reese over Trail Air because it was cheaper and the air bladder isn't exposed to the elements, no uv degradation.

(3/4" black tee ---- 3/4 black iron pipe----3/4 bushing to exact the fit

I agree with Dick. Mor ryde pin box and IS is an amazing ride. Very little chucking/clunking at all.

Bruce, I just looked at your picture again and noticed you have the same pin box as my 2019. There is a recall on some of these pin boxes, mine was not on the recall. You can check using your serial number at https://support.lci1.com/recalls-tec...ice-bulletins/. I think the recall had to do with the rubber separating between the pin plate and pin box, IIRC.

Is there an actor named chuck on the screen? If so, maybe you should switch TVs to one that doesn't have chuck on it...😎
