Hauling motorcycle
I am leaving for Myrtle beach (from Virginia) on Friday and am considering taking my Goldwing 1800. Have never hauled it in camper. Looking for advice how to load and secure safely.

I don't personally own a toy hauler, so I don't know for sure how those work.
I do, however, have a motorcycle trailer, that is setup for 4 motorcycles. I have some of these installed on my MC trailer:
https://www.harborfreight.com/motorc...RoCQCEQAvD_BwE
They work really well for capturing the front or rear wheel, and then you tie down from there. That way the, MC is caught, and can't tip over, if a strap were to come loose, or that's the theory.
I don't know if something like this can be adapted to the TH models or not. Also, is the toy box on the the TH models big enough for a Goldwing? That's probably worth checking out first, if you haven't done that already...

I think the floor of your camper is only about a half inch thick. Your Gold Wing is a thousand pounds and setting on about two square inches per tire. That is a lot of weight for such a small area. I would buy a 2X12 as long as I could get in my camper garage and park my bike on it.
I have always wonted a Gold Wing but they just don’t fit the places I ride.

We have a 2018 380th. We carry a 950lb. Harley limited in the garage all the time. Not sure how thick the floor is but we lag bolted that same chock in ours without a thru bolt and it works very well. We also tie down very tightly with 6 straps, 3 per side. Never has it moved in nearly 12,000 miles. Once the front end is tied down tight the bed can be lowered all the way back down. Not sure if you can do that with a wing. But the Harley is at least as long as the wing and as heavy. But it depends on which year of wing you are talking about also.

I have a 2012 ABS GoldWing, I would not recommend trying to haul it in your toy hauler as it won’t have the tie downs strong enough to hold it and the floor structure would be an issue. I use a motorcycle trailer and use 6 ratchet straps to keep it in place. It’s a 1000 + pounds bouncing and bucking trying to come loose, I have to stop a lot to check the straps as they will loosen up.

Yes. I have the front suspension collapsed down and they hold just fine.

On the wing your not suppose to collapse the forks as it can cause them to have issues, there is a specific way to tie down a wing.
What year is your Wing and what model is it.

Before three harleys, we had 5 wings and always tied them down this way. Never a problem.

If the OP puts the front wheel in a secure chock and uses ratchets correctly I’m not sure he would have an issue, should be fine.
The key to securing a heavy motorcycle is to tie down the axles, not the frame. My trike weighs about 1,200 and I don’t even use a front wheel chock. Two ratchets around front axle and two crossed off loops under rear axle, never moves in the back of my SOB TH.

Mighty Hauler makes a great unit that can be attached to the 5th frame

They may make a great product but I cannot at all imagine that would be a good idea on a 5th wheel. Even bicycles bounce a lot on a trailer hitch mount on the back of a long 5th wheel... the wheels on 5th wheels are quite far ahead to limit the pin weight, so there is a lot of frame behind the wheels (long lever arm).
The other thing is how many slide outs that new rigs all seem to come with. That will reduce any potential "monocoque" benefits from one piece sidewalls that older units have. I really think using a product like this for a large motorcycle is a recipe for a bent frame. (and a google search reveals that there have been a lot of bent 5th wheel frames with products like this)
On a diesel pusher? The Mighty Hauler sounds interesting.
A 5th wheel? Not me, no sir. If I did want to haul my Harley, I'd invest in one of these - https://www.freedomhauler.com/
But, back to the OP - they indicated they have a toy hauler, so they are really asking about wheel chocks and tie downs inside their Montana. Hopefully they have a plan now
Brad

I have a 2018 Montana 381 T, I use soft wraps on the triple tree for the front forks and remove side covers and use two more sof wraps and strap the to the frame. Lived full time for 3 years and never had a problem with this set up. On the sides I bought 5500lb. Break strength ratchet straps.
Good Luck !

We decided against a toy hauler in favor of s’more luxury. I ride a 2009 Yamaha VStar 1700 Silverado and the hubby rides a 2005 Yamaha Royal Star Deluxe. We figured we can rent bikes when we feel we need to while RVing. We aren’t what I would call ‘hard core’ motorcycle enthusiasts, but we like to ‘ride to eat’ with friends. Another reason for not hauling the bikes is that, yes, they are heavy! Whatever you decide to do: safety first. And good luck!

The mighty hauler has a anti sway system an works great. Movement is zero welding an bracing to frame is the key I have a friend who made his own an towed for over 10 years all across the US never had an issue

Late to the fray, but...
Before our 5th we had a tow behind toy hauler. After an almost bad experience - one strap came loose I switched to these type of tie downs. I never had the problem again. Used them on a regular trailer when moving the cycle around. The cost seems hight until you put it against the cost of any large touring motorcycle.
