Propone Costs
What are you guys find in the cost of having your tanks refilled? I paid $53 for both tanks today. Seems very high to me. Of course, we can remember the good old days when it less than 1/4th of this costs. Just wonder...keep warm.

Each tank refill usually runs me in the ball park of $16-18. Have not noticed a jump in propane prices lately.

During the summer in WA we paid 14.00 a tank, just filled today in Bastrop, TX 23.00 a tank!!! Highway robbery. In Texas they charge by the tank no matter how much they put in, in Washington they charge by the gal and only what they put in. One of my pet peeves about living in Texas.

Myrna-
Bob needs to look for a propane distributor that sells by the gallon. I can take a partial tank to a local dealer and they set it on a set of scales and weigh it before filling and charge accordingly by the gallon, usually about $2.10/gallon. Had a partial tank filled just before we left for Oklahoma just before Thanksgiving.

Filled up a few weeks ago in Denton, Texas. At the Destiny RV Park, the price was $15/tank. At the local propane dealer, it was $22/tank. I am going back to the RV Park!

Charlie.. we have been looking around and haven't found anything better locally. The RV park is more expensive. They have you pay up front for the whole tank before they will fill, so we make sure the tank is empty before going. We found a dealer in Rockport down on the gulf who sold by the gallon. You have to think cost of diesel before you venture further afield. It sounds like Flying J is the place to fill when we are travelling.

If they fill by the gallon it may be propylene (a form of propane) They normally call everything propane, and actually it is..propylene should be a bit less expensive.

I am with MUDCHIEF 12.50 in Kansas, I think you need to find someone that is selling by the gallon, U Haul and a few others charge for a total fill and you may have half a tank when you bring it in, there are a lot of places like that. This day and age and with the price's a prudent person MUST Shop around.
