Summer storage

We are giving up our full-timeer lifestyle to become Snowbirds, living in a house up north in the summer and living in our 5er in the south in the winter. We are planning to store the 5er in southern Alabama over the summer but we're concerned about mold and mildew. We're thinking of covered storage with electricity to run an exhaust fan and maybe a dehumidifier but some people are telling us that's not necessary. I would appreciate hearing others' experience with summer storage in hot, humid areas.

We spend a month each in 5 different places in Florida but take our rig with us when we leave so no personal experience but we have met many people who leave them here when they go home. Many put them in storage yards with no power because it is considerably cheaper than leaving them on the pad at the parks and paying the reduced rate for the summer. They claim they’ve had no problems. Also, several of the ones left in storage on their winter pads in Fort Myers blew over in hurricane Ian. None of the ones left down the street at a storage facility were damaged because they were all packed in so tightly, but that may have been just luck.

I'm in north Florida and if I put my rig in storage for more than 2 weeks at a time, I use damp rid buckets throughout the rig. I put 3 large ones out with the big tablet in them. I have to change them out about every 2-3 weeks during the summer.
I failed to do this in our previous unit and found after about a month that mold was starting to grow inside on the walls.

If you have shore power buy a compressor run dehumidifier. I have one in my rig. It sits on the sink island and has a drain hose that drains into the sink. I keep the galley drain valve slightly open so that the water can drain out. It works GREAT!

I live in Gulf Shores and have a dehumidifier running 24/7. It is dumped every day and is either almost full or has stopped running. 2 quarts a day is a lot of moisture.

We live in NY and snowbird in GA. We used to drag the rig home every spring, but now leave it south. We put a couple damp rids around inside and set up a small dehumidifier on the kitchen counter with the hose run to the sink. We have not had any mold or mildew problems. Our kids also have used it a few times during the summer and that helps to air it out a bit.
