Removing Spare Tire Carrier
My spare tire carrier will no longer lift my tire up to the bottom of the rig. I want to remove the carrier to see about repairs but in addition to the bolts holding it on, it has what appear to be rivets holding it on from above the belly of the rig. I am new to this group and I can't find another thread that talks about these "rivets" and how to remove them. Anyone able to help me out? If this information is already out there, I apologize in advance!

It really helps if you mention your have a 2019 3120 (or better yet, add that info to your signature) as the spare tire carrier has changed a lot over the years.
I am not going to be much help as my carrier is different from your but hopefully someone with a similar year will speak up.

I have a 2019 3130re. Yesterday I lowered my spare to check it. I put a 3/4" socket on my drill and it went down easily.
It is a worm drive mechanism to raise/lower the cable attached to the tire.
I sprayed PTFE lubricant on the cable and mechanism. It did not help when raising the tire. I had to use a wratchet to crank it back up.
BTW...
The spare tire rim is steel, painted white. I looked but did not see a stamp indicating it was rated for 110psi Sailun tires. I have 90psi in that one.

All the steel white rims are rated for 110 PSI.

I have a 2017 3160 which is almost the same as a 3120. Not sure if they changed the spare tire carrier. In any case, I replaced mine with a heavy duty winch. I don't recall any rivits, but it's been awhile.

This video demonstrates how to remove a rivet, it’s on a totally different application but all rivets function the same. Drill the head off and it looses it’s structural strength.

Photo
I guess I was remiss in not saying that my rig is a 2019 3121RL. I'm attempting to attach a photo of what my question is.

The nuts I get, the protruding studs with the plastic collars I don't understand and that's what I'm looking for help with.

Those are the power nails they shoot out of a gun; same ones they use all around your unit to attach the coroplast. Easy to take out. If you ever have to remove your coroplast, replace them with self-drilling screws. For the ones holding your spare tire, I would replace with bolts.

You have a BAL 28240. https://www.amazon.com/BAL-R-V-Produ...s%2C171&sr=8-1
If it won’t retract its most likely the pins holding the cable in their tracks have comes out. You can attempt to repair it without removing it. There is a bolt that holds the cable mechanism. You can remove it and then use the screw worm to push it to the opening where the cable comes out.
I had the same problem this past summer. I removed mine but was never able to repair it. Keystone did replace it during the rally in September. Good luck.

On my 05 I had to rebuild the winch once
The secret is to only try to crank it up with weight on it.
