Macerator pumps

I have been looking into buying a macerator pump for boondocking. I want to be able to fill the honey wagon in the truck bed. The favourite seems to be the Flojet 18555. I am finding it difficult to find one at a reasonable price (or at all) these days. Are there members out there using a different brand that they are happy with?

I bought one on Amazon. It works great for dumping here at home.

They have never been inexpensive. I've forgotten how much I paid for the Flo Jet I have but it's a well worth the price for convenience IF YOU ACTUALLY NEED ONE. You also need to factor in the cost of a good 3/4"-1" hose that is flexible - the arbor Freight low buck one is not and it gets (much) worse in cool weather.

We bought a flo jet. Mainly for boondocking. We pumped grey water into the black tank since the tanks didn't fill equally over time. That bought an extra day or two between dumpings. I would let it go cheap if you get to our neighborhood.

I bought the Flo-Jet at Home Depot. Had to order ship to store. It was here is a couple of days. Best investment I have made. I have a 36 gallon "stool bus" and I can't lift it anymore when full. I put it in the bed of the truck and pump tanks to it using a 3/4" flexible garden hose (Zero-G). I think I paid around $250.00 for the pump kit.
Camping World is selling for $254.00 now.

If you want something permanently installed, this is what I did...

Actually, I got the idea from Brad's thread above, but I only really wanted to use it when I need to use the portable tank, so the Flo Jet was the better choice for me. Most often, we have full hookups, but there are times when sewer hookups aren't available and we tend to stay somewhere for 2 weeks or more at a time.

If a DIYer, a cheap kitchen garbage disposer can be modified to do the job. When I was looking for my Flo Jet, found that link but nary a clue where, 5 years or so later.

Quite a few youtube videos on that too, if you're so inclined.

Flojet it is then. I ' ll wait though until we get into the States next month. So many extra charges to have it sent to Canada. So much for the Free Trade agreement.

Just don't use it at O Dark Thirty or you might hear some interesting language from your neighbors.

Glad it's working out for you as these are great tools. Suggest you get a spare grinder wheel as they will occasionally wear out. Also, nothing stringy down the toilet either as it is a *ahem* crappy job disassembling and cleaning it .
