Dodge/Cummins def injector

I thought I would post an experience my daughter an son in law recently had with their Dodge. The service def system mesaage came up and said speed limited in x number of miles. They were fortunate enough to find a dealer able to get the truck in and were quoted several hundred dollars to replace the def injector. They were also told it was common for the bolts to break upon removal. Well, the dealer started without authorization and broke the bolts. SIL raised some Cain and dealer fixed the broken bolts, cleared the code as requested and sent them down the road having paid a $100 diagnostic fee. Sure enough, the message returned. SIL removed and cleaned the injector and road tested and the message came back. After some discussion, my daughter suggested soaking it in Coca Cola as she had seen somewhere it had worked as a cleaner. Guess what? They soaked it overnight, observing a constant bubbling around the injector as it soaked. They kept the electrical connector out of the solution. He installed it and cleared the code with a code reader he purchased. They had no issues the rest of their trip! He now has a spare def injector in the glove box. Of all the dang things.....Coca Cola. To think we drink that stuff!

Glad it worked out. Coke will also clean rust from Crome as well and a host of other things.
