I am looking to add the aftermarket steps to our 381TH. Are they really worth the money and why. What is the best brand. Thanks for your inpuy

Assuming your Montana is currently equipped with the Moryde solid flip-up flip-down steps? Correct?

I believe so, it's the factory steps, steep and bouncy.

Yours is the old-school style fold up steps. There are several possibilities you can do to improve these. You can place a support under the steps so they are more solid. We did this with all our previous campers with the same steps: Click Here.

Other possibilities are Moryde Steps.

TorkLift Glow Steps

Folks have successfully swapped out their original fold-up steps successfully with both of these.

Of course, you can also build your own steps.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both of these styles of steps. The biggest problem is, if you are parked on a side slope and even if the steps are extended as far as they will go, it's possible the feet may still not touch the ground.

The Moryde fixed steps steps have an additional limitation, if there is not enough clearance to swing them down without hitting hitting something.... think in terms of Storage facilities where capers are packed in tight with only a couple feet of space between them.

Still, every obstacle can be overcome with the right ingenuity.

We use Lippert aluminum folding steps and they are much better. The reason we use them is that we still need a folding step since we have porches at both our home bases and the Moryde steps won't work with a porch.

Do yourself a favor and get the Torklift Glow Steps and don't look back. Absolutely the best steps going!

I know a lot of people like the Glow Steps and many like the MorRyde. Either are better than the OEM folding steps. We added the railing to our MorRyde steps and love it. This will help me until the day I replace my knees.

I just installed Torklift Glostep Revolution and really like them. Very solid, and don't drip inside your rig when stowed, as they go where the springboard steps were.

I purchased the Port-A-Steps from rv-co.com. We LOVE them!!! Put them on if you want, leave them in the basement if you are overnighting or in a tight space. The wide platform top we have room to stand on and still open the door! Absolutely no slipping!

I have this type also. I can still use my fold out steps if I need to. They attach easily and are solid and safe. Best of all, no folding.

Love the Moryde steps we had installed at the Goshen Rally a couple of years ago. I feel safe from falling on unstable steps as I carry two armloads of groceries into the RV.

You will need a rug inside the door when you fold them inside if it is raining as they can bring in some water. Minor trade off.

MorRyde. They have a larger top step (apron) to stand on while opening door. Also, much safer going out on the exit with the larger top step. Gives you a chance to get your feet lined up to make the exit safely.

If are ever going to store your rig get the glow steps. What I like is you carry a small step stool and leave your glow steps folded up and use the step stool for stealth.
